Friable skin

Postby msimon » 19 Sep 2014, 23:49

A CRS I went to looked at my anus and said that I have 'friable' skin. It turns out to be an actual term that means the skin is very fragile and tears easily. He said that just as he was spreading the skin to look it was tearing, and it felt like it! My usual CRS has said nothing of this...This guy said that this is commonly seen in cases where it is moist down there for long periods of time. He recommended that I use talc or cornstarch and/or place gauze back there. Well it is really fragile. So much so that even applying those things makes things spasm and even tear just when touched. Even just spreading the cheeks to dry it trouble, which I guess is why it is moist. I didn't think it was moist, yuck! I guess I am sweating more from all the pain :(

Anyway, just wondering if anyone can relate....

Sorry things are so grim for you at the moment.xx
I haven't heard of friable skin, but have heard of fragile skin. I have suspected hypermobility syndrome with fragile skin.

Hi MS,

I'm sorry things aren't too good at the moment.... Excellent link from OMB. Have a look and see if this relates to you.
Is it possible to see if you are a candidate for LIS? My bottom tears so easily too, and I also could just tear from pulling or just a slightly harder BM. Can you dry off after bath with a hair drier and then put a cotton pad there to dry it..? Xxx

Hugs xxxxxx

funny, i would think that dry skin would tear more easily. but i do believe you, and have heard this mentioned before.
i coat my area with ozonated olive oil every day for cleansing ... that keeps things moist but clean.

was doing fine, all healed up, then had a dietary mishap while traveling and retear.
