Healed Fissure but Skin Tag Dilemma

Postby Guest » 19 Apr 2007, 15:22

I just got back from the CRS today for a recheck and he inspected and said that the fissure has healed! I am of course excited but wondered then, why am I in such pain?
He said the skin tag is irritated and swollen and is holding things up. He didn't want to remove it because he thought it might cause me to take a step back having another wound to heal from. Okay, I understand that, but he said it could take a year for it to heal completely. Eek.
He thought that the wipes I am using could be messing with the Ph balance of the skin and recommended I switch to baby wipes. The only problem is those are not flushable. He also recommended an over the counter perianal wash to use when cleaning up. It is called Balneol. Haven't had a chance to get it yet. I don't want to go back out after being in the car 4 hours.
He did an internal exam that really triggered the pain. So I had to take some meds on the way home.
I am scheduled to go back in the beginning of June. I am very happy with the news but wish it was accompanied by less pain. It should soften up over time. He did say to use some Aloe Vera on it.
So members of the board, thanks for getting me through to here. I will still need your support as this sentinel pile (skin tag thingie) heals up. I think if it still hurts in June I may just ask him to go ahead and take it off. It couldn't be any worse then it is now???
Take care,
Lecia

Well, now, LOTS of people will be smiling at *that* news!
That's amazing and unexpected, eh!
I totally agree with the doctor! Let your fissure heal well before you go snipping and snapping down there. There may be some aggressive conservative measures you could take 'til then for the skin tag(?)
Why are you still having pain? Could your pudendal nerve be a source? I have read that it can cause chronic pain, called PN, but of course I'm sure your doctors would be on top of that!
I personally think it's cause to really celebrate! Image
I think I'll crank R2 up and get him to dance the Cantina dance a few times!

Well, the pain is coming from the sentinel pile skin tag. It is swollen and irritated. I am going to try some of the things he recommended to see if I can get that sucker to settle down!
I do have pain from the PN but it is a different pain. It isn't sharp like an open wound-it's more of a slight burning that gets better the less I sit. But overall that has improved in the last 4 years. I was in bed for about 1 year after #2 was born. I could hardly move it was so bad. I don't even like to think about it! So just the fact that I can get up and play with the kids and take care of the house and work now-I am very blessed!

Thank you WA. I truly appreciate it that. You've been on my prayer list since you joined and I pray for God's healing touch to come upon you and to bring you peace during troubled times.

R2 is still dancing! And I am having a second beer tonight to celebrate!
It sounds like you have come a long way with the PN! Perhaps it's just a long but steady ascent to healing permanently? I hope so!
That first year must have been rough! You're pretty darned amazing, Padme!
This is now unofficially the Anal Fissure/Skin Tag Support Forum!

As long as I still get to stay! Thanks for all your support the last months. You cheered me up in the process too!
Wish I had a Star Wars prop I could use in a picture. I am so jealous!
Cheers!

Ahhh...i dont have much advice on this subject unfortunately Lecia. I have a skin tag that was left after surgery as well, but it doesnt cause me any pain. In fact, when things are going well, it tends to recede back up inside of me...so maybe that will happen over time with you?
Anyways, best wishes to you. I hope you heal up very soon.

Thanks, Kate! Hopefully with time this thing will just assimilate back in and stop getting irritated.
Hope you are having a restful week and feeling better! I'll let you know if any of the things I am going to try will work for the skin tag (aloe vera and the baneol).
