Setback

Postby vdb324 » 05 Jun 2014, 13:45

I had a good post-op and was still bleeding at the time in mid-may. The bleeding stopped a few days later as the doctor said it would. Three weeks later and I have had blood -- just always after the second bm of my day. Normally, I was only going once without blood. I had two days in a row with blood after three
Weeks without. No pain. I called the surgeon, and he wants me to come in, which isn't a good sign. I just want to be done once and for all! So worries!

How much blood? It could be just from an internal hemorrhoid. If there is no pain, I would not worry too much. See the surgeon anyway, just in case.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

There's no pain, but that's been the status quo since the third week or so post-surgery. Bleeding, on the other hand, has been the bigger problem. It stopped about 7 weeks out, and now,3 weeks later here we are with no warning sign. It was really itchy last night. I wonder if it is granulation tissue. It's also weird it is after the second bm each day and never the first. Neither time is it a hard or difficult either. It's very strange and frustrating.

So, the two days were it so far...knock on wood. 3 days now without bleeding, but have only had my more typical one bm (versus the two last week that have me bleeding after the second one). Very strange. I have had more irritation/itchiness/scratchiness (feels like scabbing skin getting pulled on, for lack of an accurate description) today. There was some more general pain when lifting around 20-30 pounds in the tailbone area. Appointment soon.

Hi vbd, I suggest not lifting anything - I always got a recurrence of pain if I lifted things. Tell people you've got a bad back, if you need to.

Yes, I am still taking Miralax and a softener. Today, it is unbearably itchy! Still no blood, though. I am about ready to scream from the itchiness!

CRS visit today.
He saw nothing that indicated bleeding. Fissure is gone (ptl); internal hemorrhoids too small.
Weird, as I definitely had two days of it less than a week ago.
Same goes for the itchiness.
He did recommend I increase Metamucil, remove either the softener or Miralax, and discontinue use of wipes.
