Terrible Spasm

Postby woundedspirit » 11 Dec 2014, 23:32

Today out of the blue I had a terrible rectal spasm that took me down. I have had a spasm before but nothing like this. I did not know what to do to get it to stop. It lasted about 20 minutes and about 10 minutes into it my uterus started spasming too. It was the most horrible episode. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do when this happens. Feeling just terrible today. Not so convinced anymore that another LIS is the right move. Feeling pretty low. Hopefully there is something I can do if this happens again. I am really scared because this just wiped me out. :(

So sorry to hear it Wounded. Do you have any access to ativan/lorazepam. When I have terrible spasms they knock me out.

Thank you so much. I will have to ask my doctor. I need to have something on hand when this happens again. I never knew a spasm could get that bad. I am feeling a whole new level of depression. It just knocked me off my square and now I just feel like I have another hellish pain to fear and endure at any moment.

I wish I could say I were better but things have taken a turn for the worse for me. My BMs have become very spastic again and I think they are doing damage :( as it is quite narrow coming out and my pelvic floor is not cooperating. I never thought the LIS would cure everything but I thought I would be healed up some before the pelvic floor got so bad. Or maybe it's my internal sphincter? I thought of trying some nifedipine but am afraid it might burn. I also thought my infection may be back so I went back on antibiotics and DH and I tried to see if anything would squeeze out down there with a q-tip but this made things so much worse! DH pressed quite hard with the q-tip and then put it inside a bit as he wanted to put some antibiotic ointment in there and he really hurt me. I know he meant well but it is so delicate down there right now. The I had an acidic BM (oddly enough my BMs were a lot less irritating on the antibiotics so hopefully that will get better again). I am so alone in this! My CS is away for another month and left nobody there to look after patients while he is away. I just don't know how I am going to heal from this! The incision site is like an awful fissure. And it still seeps, all day!

Sorry, rant over.

msimon, I'm sorry to say that i dont have alot of advice when it comes to the spasming. I remember my spasms like it was yesterday, and not a day goes by without me FEARING it coming back. If it gets really bad, call the hospital and make them do something. I actually had to call several times bacsue they would NOT take me seriously. Dont be afraid of giving them aittle hell. Nobody deserves this.
There are heavy painkillers you can take for the pain, however they can make your stools harder if they have codein in them, so remember more stool softner!
Another thing, you might wanna try something to calm you down(Valium etc..) because in MY case - fear would cause maaaajor spasming.

Sending you a big hug, even if it won't help much now. Trust me, I know how you are feeling <3

No problem soey, I knew what you meant. msimon I am so sorry to hear this and please rant anytime. It does help in some odd way sometimes. My heart goes out to you. It just seems like their is no end to all this sometimes. My doctor keeps asking me if I am depressed and I keep saying no, I can handle it but this spasm thing has almost put me over the edge. I don't know, just keep forging on I guess. I feel my faith is really being tested.

Quick question, are You doing the 'finger pressure point' when You go for a BM? As I tell everybody else that struggles,
It Really has helped me alot. My spasms stopped when I started doing it. Placebo effect or not, it did help. Try to hang in
There. Easy for me to say, I know.. One way or another, it has to get better.
