Ugh! Newly diagnosed

Postby zazzitup » 01 Feb 2014, 21:45

New here! I've posted 3 times only to have them disappear! UGH!
Long story as short as possible, I've been dealing with UTI's for 7 years. I've had 2 mesh slings (both now removed.)After the removal, the abcesses began.First one was near the vaginal area but not inside. ExTREME pain!always relieved after the rupture. Unfortunately, they always return. They'now moved up toward the rectum and will not ever completely go away.
Finally found a doc that did a biopsy and cultured the abcess and I had a heavy growth of a bacteria called klebeisa oxytoco. I've beenthrough 4 rounds of bactrim + flagyland this is rotated with cipro. Still, it returns. Symptoms (not to mention paid) is being extremey lethargic, can hardly make it through the days at work and count days unil Friday. Fridays are followed by weekends in bed.
Feet swelling and sometimes I wake up shaking all all over. Even my insides.
So, Dr.thinks it is a fistula. Concerns are the fact that the abcesses have been in other areas. He wants to use a seton
This is embarrasing. No sex in almost 2 years. I feel nasty and unworthy.Urine is cloudy and has a foul odor. And I'm SO tired. Dr. sceduleda fistulagram. I cancelledwhen Iwas told this test is $27,000.00.
I have insurance but out of pocket would be 7,000.00
I don't know what to do.I have to work. The information I've learned is from my research.

Kathy

Hi Zazzitup,
Welcome to the forum - the club nobody wants to belong to!
I'm really sorry you've been having such a miserable time. That sounds just awful - you poor thing. I can't imagine being tired all the time like that. I really admire you for soldiering on through all that pain. You must be pretty strong to be still working in spite of it all.
I wish I had advice for you - I don't because I only (!) had a fissure, not a fistula, but there are people here who know more about what you are going through and I'm sure they'll have some advice.

I guess the only thing I can say is, I know it's horrible, but please don't feel nasty or unworthy. You don't deserve what's happening to you, and you totally are worthy. And you don't have to feel embarrassed when you post here. Everybody here knows what it's like to have problems with the anus and bowel movements. This is the place where you can share your experience, vent, ask any question, no matter what.

:smilyhug:

I really can't imagine a test that could cost so much money. Wow.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
