LIS success with chronic anal fissure

Postby ouchie25 » 07 Jun 2017, 07:20

I've been apart of these forums for about 2 years dealing with my fissure and I'm glad to be out on the other side!

I had a chronic fissure with no spasms, so I was lucky in that regard. However with each BM it would be 10/10 pain.

First I tried Rectogesic (with no stool softeners) and only had brief moments of relief.

Then I had Botox along side stool softners and rectogesic and again I only had about 3 months of inconsistent relief. (I wrote a dairy on this journey).

Finally I decided to give then LIS a go, and after 3 months post op I had finally healed to the point where I wasn't having any leakage, didn't need softeners and everything felt normal down there with no pain or discomfort with BMs! (There is also a dairy on this too).

I am now 6 months post LIS and consider myself fully healed and I feel as though I have never had the fissure!! I am so greatful for my surgeon and going ahead with the LIS, I can now go to the toilet without any fear!

There is hope for you too! :fairy:

Hi ouchie! Can you share the name of your surgeon? Which city are you in? I'm from Adelaide and am currently investigating the LIS route :)
- February 2019 : Fissure
- Tried all of the creams, perfecting the diet, self dilation
- Reduced symptoms significantly but still not healed
- July 2019 : LIS with tag removal

Yeh no problem!

Dr Stephen White, at John Flynn Private Hospital (Gold Coast).

He was fantastic and I’ve had no problems since my surgery. Even though he works at the private medical suites, he offers procedures the public system at Tweed Heads Hospital (via a waiting list - I waited about 2 months from memory), so apart from my consultation with him, it was entirely free through Medicare.

Hope this helps :)

That is excellent, thanks so much! I am seeing a CRS in Adelaide next week so I will see how it goes first then otherwise might look into your doc and enjoy the sun up north at the same time :)
