Re: Feingold Kenalog Procedure

Day 5 has felt completely normal. When I left the house though I realized I still needed to walk pretty slowly. And I'm still nervous about being far away from my own bathroom so I canceled plans with friends. I felt so fine that I actually forgot to take my pain medicine at a scheduled time. It didn't seem to make a difference.

Food Eaten: Creamed Spinach, 1 Tbsp Olive Oil, Pudding, Jello, Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, 2 pieces of pita
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace
Number of Sitz Baths: 1
Bowel Movement: 1 mini
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0-1
Blood: Almost none

Day 6: I left the house for the first extended period today. I still walked a little slowly and carefully and was reluctant to be far away from a bathroom. I also feel like I might be a little constipated. Separately, I've noticed that my stomach seems to be sticking out in an unusual way? The day was generally fine. There was a vague feeling of "pressure" when I wanted to have a bowel movement but did not. I'm not worried about incontinence anymore so I'm taking regular doses of Miralax.

Food Eaten: Omelette, Creamed Spinach, Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Chocolate
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace, Miralax
Number of Sitz Baths: 1
Bowel Movement: 1 mini
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0-1
Blood: Almost none

Day 7: I'm taking my pain medication less often, twice a day instead of four times a day. When I don't take it for a long time I start to notice a little discomfort. I'm also still constipated but had more of a bowel movement today. It was soft and painless. Hoping the Miralax keeps me on a routine for the rest of the week. I went back to work for the first time today, and it was fine. I was sitting all day and nothing really felt any different. I do think overall I would have preferred to have been home and near my own bathroom, but it was fine.

Food Eaten: Salad, Doughnut, Chocolate
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace, Miralax
Number of Sitz Baths: 1
Bowel Movement: 1 but seemed incomplete
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0-1
Blood: Still shows up on panty liner. None otherwise.

Day 8: Today I decided not to take any painkillers until I felt the need to. I lasted until 3:30 p.m. There was no pronounced pain not has there been any general throbbing pain, but I could feel what I would generally call discomfort. Being back at work has been mostly fine but definitely not 100% comfortable. I still feel like leaving early, and I don't think sitting all day is excellent for me. But it's fine and manageable. Was expecting to have a regular bowel movement today, but I did not.

Food Eaten: Sliced Cheese, Salmon, Soup
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace, Miralax
Number of Sitz Baths: 1
Bowel Movement: 2, mini
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0-1
Blood: Still shows up on panty liner and sometimes when wiping.

Day 9: Today was my most comfortable, and I didn't take any pain medication until 3pm. That's the only pain medicine I took. I also had plenty of bowel movements today. I'm not sure what got me stuck in the first place but the Colace and Miralax have kept the stools very very soft and thin. The bowel movements weren't painful at all but they do not feel just as before yet. I can still tell that there is recovery/change.There might have been slight stinging afterwards for a few seconds. I don't remember. Walking was also very comfortable today. I still worry about getting bumped into in public but I met a friend out after work and was totally comfortable. I still kept my hours in the office to about six. Overall, I think if you can get medical leave for longer than week that it probably is the right thing to do. I've managed pretty well with just taking four days and the surgery day off, but I think that being near your own bathroom and not having to sit all day are valuable. Today I felt a few times that I had to "hold it" because I was not near a bathroom, and I doubt that's a great habit for recovery.

Food Eaten: Caesar Salad, Chicken, Biscuit, Shot of Aloe
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace, Miralax
Number of Sitz Baths: 1
Bowel Movement: 2, mini; 3, regular
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0-1
Blood: Still shows up on panty liner and sometimes when wiping.

Day 10: Still didn't feel like being in the office all day, especially after bowel movements but it was manageable. I need to remember to take wet wipes with me tomorrow. I also am going to stick to taking pain meds once a day but am going back to doing it pre-emptively. I'm walking faster and want to email Dr. Feingold to see what kind of exercise I might be able to do. I can tell that any sort of lifting is out. But maybe there's something else?

Food Eaten: Chicken Noodle Soup, shot of Aloe, teaspoon of Olive Oil
Meds Taken: Advil, Tylenol, Colace, Miralax
Number of Sitz Baths: 0
Bowel Movement: 1, mini; 2, regular
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 1-2
Blood: Almost none

Day 12: Again nothing major to report. I don't see blood on the liners or when I wipe anymore. I'm down to one Advil a day, which I take pre-emptively Between the Advil and the Miralax, I honestly can't tell that there's a wound at all. I only notice if I'm trying to do some heavy lifting, and I still try to be careful about moving in unusual ways.

Food Eaten: Chicken, Salmon, Cheese, Nuts
Meds Taken: Tylenol, Colace
Number of Sitz Baths: 0
Bowel Movement: 0
Gas: Barely any
Pain: 0
Blood: None
