NATCM Treatment For Hemorrhoids

Postby Givingitatry » 29 Jul 2013, 23:37

After doing as much research as I could on the www and reading thru this forum I decided to give the NATCM in Markham, Ontario a try. I had my first treatment today so I'm not in a position to offer much of an evaluation yet. I have stage 3 combination (inside and out) haemorrhoids according to the doctor at NATCM with a tag which allegedly has a polyp on it. I have had these haemorrhoids for over 30 years. I have had to push them back inside after each bowel movement since they first appeared. As well I have suffered occasional flare ups where I had considerable discomfort. Also I have had to worry about them falling out and becoming a problem anytime I have travelled or altered my usual routine in any way.
I was told I would need to come in every day for 21 days to clear everything up and was quoted a price of $3,000.00 taxes included. Certainly a significant expense, but I did not feel it was unreasonable if it works. The first treatment certainly seems to have provided some relief from my most recent flare up.
It is a little bit difficult communicating with the doctor who applies the preparation. As well the treatment is not cheap. But if it works I'll be a happy customer. I will try to give regular reports in case anyone else on this forum is considering this option.

Re: NATCM Treatment For Hemorrhoids

Well I have had one week of treatment now however I don't have anything at all conclusive to report.  My hemorrhoids are certainly much better, however whether this is a direct result of the treatment I have been receiving or the natural healing that would have occurred anyway, as my most recent flare up subsided, is hard to say.
The treatment is both somewhat unpleasant and very time consuming.  It is unpleasant because personally I don't enjoy having even a small wad of herb and oil soaked cotton stuck in me on a daily basis nor do I enjoy the rather full bowel feeling this cotton suppository causes.  As well it is unpleasant because the doctors at NATCM seem to feel it is necessary to pull the hemorrhoids out so they can take a look at them every 2 or 3 days, which is quite painful.  It is very time consuming for me because it is about a 45 minute drive to the NATCM centre and a 45 minute drive back.
After the initial examination I was assigned to one doctor last Monday and then switched to a new doctor on Tuesday.  This new doctor commented after her initial examination of my hemorrhoids that it was going to take a long time to get rid of them because they were so big.  When I replied that I had been told it would be 21 days of treatment she commented that it would be at LEAST 21 days and seemed to feel that the first doctor had been a little overly optimistic.  Then today she mentioned that mine was a particularly difficult case because of the size of the hemorrhoids.
I am trying to remain cautiously optimistic however I was hoping to see more distinct results by now.  It's hard to drag yourself all the out to their office when your still not at all sure if the treatment is doing any good.

Thank you for your update. It must be frustrating to have heard one thing and then another when being switched to another doctor. Hopefully you will start to see improvements. I'm thinking it makes sense that this kind of treatment could take a lot of time and patience.
Ultimately though I am glad to hear the good news that your pain seems to have settled a bit.
Wishing you well as you continue on...

NATCM (Markham/Canada) did not work for me, read my story!

Postby simone » 06 Oct 2013, 10:15

NATCM (Markham/Canada) did not work for me! Worst part is that I was charged over $3000 to be cured! I did everything they told me i.e. change my diet, drink 4 lt of water a day. no booze etc. I went for regular treatment for 10 moths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing, absolutely nothing! The worst part (besides paying so much) is that my condition is actually worsened by going there. My initial condition was hemorrhoids, I never suffered from fissures. Because of the medication they stuff your butt with, the skin around the anus gets softer and at some point, mine ripped with a fissure. Now on top of the hemorrhoids, I have this nasty fissure that hurts like H... The last time I went the doctor was very dismissive and gave me more of that weird woo-do cream and said to apply it by myself. Useless to say that I did that with no avail. I am really angry and in pain and I feel like asking for my money back. 10 moths after I was done with the treatment, I decided to go see a western specialist (third one at this point). He gave me more stupid cream (Diltiazem) to apply. I said that I did not want creams anymore but instead I wanted surgery. he said he did not recommended it because there is a risk of becoming incontinent! My question to all of you in this forum is: is it possible that in the year 2013, the human race flew tho the moon, to Mars, there are people successfully living with quadruple heart bypass... and yet no Doctor can seem to help me with one damned fissure!!!??? Please help me if you can, I had it enough. By the way my stool is super soft, therefore that is not the reason why the fissure is not healing. Also It is now 6 weeks that I've been using the cream Diltiazem with no avail! HELP, HELP, HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: NATCM Treatment For Hemorrhoids

Postby Stephanell68 » 02 Aug 2014, 08:05

Hi there, just wanted to share my experience with the NACTM clinic in Toronto. I am currently 5 days in treatment. I didn't have a fissure, but stage 2 hemorrhoidw (prolapsed) after two pregnancies. I have to report that as of yesterday, I am hemorrhoid free. I have had banding performed before (twice), but it didn't help in the long term, as they came back only a month later. I still have to go to the clinic for 4 more days to complete the treatment and will be very careful afterwards and do my best to prevent the hems from coming back. To everyone suffering from hems, I think it is well worth giving it a shot.
