Perhaps you have pruritis ani? That's what it may be since you have itching. Have you tried a barrier cream like calmoseptine?
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I will look into it thanks :)
Had a really scratchy painful hard bm today I could tell it would hurt halfway through when I had to push. Specific knife pain at 2pm Position. Sat in the bath and the area was sore to touch but it’s feeling better now I’m sat on a hot bottle and put medi honey up there.

I’m so so sick of this now years down the line and I feel there’s no hope for me now. No signs of an active fissure but still very symptomatic with my Bms

No light at the end of my tunnel! No pun intended
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

I’m pretty sure I have a new fissure at the 2pm position. No blood but same sharp pain in the same spot as yesterday on BM.

What a shame!!!

Sainsbury’s woes....

I had to use the loo when I was out shopping and it felt like I had to rush so I thought it was going to be a loose motion. Ran into Sainsbury’s and tried to go but it got stuck and knew I was in trouble. Tried to relax not push but it didn’t work. Eventually had to strain and it came out with such a force it tore me in multiple places. Wiped and there was blood on the paper. Was in agony for a few hours now I’m left feeling so disheartened, will this ever end??

Got it...I am no evangelist for LIS....but....

I was in a similar boat to you - long term, retears, chronic - yet doing everything right in terms of eating and taking care of myself. I kept my local pharmacy in business for a while.

When my CRS finally recommended LIS he basically explained that I just have a tight ass (lol) and not much was going to help prevent future retrears other than LIS which would permanently reduce the resting pressure of the sphincter.

I too was worried about side effects - and can tell you I have had none. For me it has been a blessing.

I would highly recommend you find a super top notch CRS (someone head of a university faculty and the like) with lots of experience and talk about the option. We all hear about the bad stories - specially on this site. That said - you gotta know that the vast vast majority are good stories - otherwise they would not be performing thrust procedure.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I also suffered for years before biting the dreaded bullet and having LIS. I really wish that I'd done it earlier, because it was life changing in a very positive way. You have NO (!!!!!!) idea how terrified I was about the possibility of complications, so I get that. Just wanted to chime in though, in case it helps.
Fissure since about 2007
Fissure diagnosed in 2011
Diltiazem for two years - didn't work well
LIS January, 2015

Thanks for your help guys. It’s been a tough few weeks, my issue is all anterior at 12 pm position, every bm right at that spot feels like a cheese grater but once the bm is done after 2 or 3 minutes I feel fine again. No nasty spasm or blood just the cheese grater feeling. What could this be? It doesn’t really hurt to apply cream, just grates on bm on the external sphincter.

I went to the gp today and was able to convince him to prescribe topical DIltiazem as the gtn gives me such bad headaches but my biggest worry is that this isn’t an af causing my pain and that it’s something that has no medical or surgical cure like damaged scar tissue from where my tag was excised there?

I feel so depressed, almost at the brink of giving up. January marks the 6th year of suffering.
