Thanks :)

There are so few Doctors here that will even touch chronic pain, let alone chronic pelvic pain. At this particular pain clinic, the only in my city, there was 1 Doctor. There is another one currently in the OBGYN unit at this hospital that has expressed intense interest but now there is red tape involved, and in my province that can be a very big obstacle. So for now, it doesn't seem an option for the near future.

To be honest, I don't know how much of my trouble is the pelvic floor vs. the sphincter. Since I won't got there, nor let my physio (out of fear and past awful experiences/outcomes) I am at a stand still I suppose. I am at the point where I am getting by and don't know if I can justify taking the chance at a major setback. Since the fissure was caused by letting someone back there in the first place I am just not willing to go there, yet. I had a physio tear me once back there too, a few years back. But perhaps the internal sphincter needs dilation. Just can't go there for now...

Hi mark.... Lovely to hear from you!

Sorry to hear you have had such a bad time of things... But it sounds like you were very lucky. What a worrying time for you and your family. I'm not surprised your bum has suffered from the meds. Hopefully as you get stronger things will get better. Xx

I was starting to do well. Pain levels were down to a tolerable level without the need for pain killers, then my dad became very ill and passed away. It's been a very sad stressful time, and as a result my bms and bum have reacted accordingly....

Hi everyone!

Just an update from me.

I have been doing really well...... I am around 90 percent of the time pain free... I just get odd days that things feel sore and yangy.... Usually around the time of my period. I think hormones have a big part to play in affecting the smooth muscle, so that explains that.

I continue to have IBS though.... But stress is the main factor.

I'm still taking movicol..... And probably will for a long time yet.... But that is fine by me.

So.... All in all... I have my life back, probably as good as I will get it considering what my poor bum went through for so long.

Things DO get better.... It just takes alot of time.... And this forum was a total godsend for me in my bleakest days/months....... Well.... Years!!!

Keep supporting each other :thankyou:  :smilyhug:

OMB -- yayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

First of all I am so happy to hear where you are at physically - and you sound like you are in a good place emotionally too. I bet there were many days you would not have imagined you would recover this much/well when you were in the thick of it!!

As I've said in the past - your story is an inspiration to all who know it.

It's really great to hear from all my old board friends from time to time...again, so happy for you and thanks a ton for the wonderful update.

All best - Canadabum

Thankyou so much canadabum. You are so kind!

No..... I never thought I would be anywhere near as well as I am now. I thought I was stuck like it for ever. So painful, and so depressing!

How are you doing?

Hey OMB...I am doing quite well thank you. I too never thought I would say that or fell that again...phew. I am not 100% out of the woods...my fissure left me with a gift of a papilla that can get aggravated....but nothing like the fissure. I am thankful each and every day. Also -- the mental battle of each day is basically gone...though my antenna are always a bit up after the overall experience.

All best -- keep in touch.
