Owmybum...i have read all 35 or so pages of your diary...and countless other posts. I wanted to let you know that I too sincerely hope that time and good care from this new Dr. combine to provide you with some relief that you richly deserve. I also want to let you know that you are quite incredible in your ability to deal with this difficult issue...I do not mean to be trite when I say you are quite an inspiration...I only wish I could do something to help. Someone should come up with an bi-annual AF get together...so that we can all meet and truly extend our support to each other.

I am very very glad that you seem to have a new strategy to explore -- i assume you are comfortable with the new direction which is great. I have all my digits crossed for you and am thinking of you.

All best,
Canadabum

Canadabum.... What a sweet post, you've made my day! As for being an inspiration ..... Hmmmm.... I think I'm just someone trying to make the best of my bad situation. I think this forum has been a god send to all of us, individuals who have never experienced prolonged rectal pain could ever possibly understand how utterly painful and depressing an affliction this is. I kept my diary to help anyone who has the misfortune of being in the same situation... Who like me in the begining.... Had no idea how to help myself, or the various treatments out there. I just hope it doesn't make for a too depressing read!!! ... Well done on reading through near on a years worth!

Yes..... If any of us could travel without severe discomfort a get together sounds great!!!

Thankyou xxxxxx

Just a small update.

Things are still slowly improving pain wise. I still get good and bad days... But the good days seem to be winning!

I'm doing a physio program called Graded Motor Imagery. It's basically teaching my brain to see my body properly again without the injured area. I'm feeling pain even though I'm fully healed... Think of it like someone who has phantom limb pain. It's going to be a long old road to unlearn my pain... But I'm giving it a good go!

I have had a really bad bout of IBS that lasted just over 2 weeks, but my butt seems to have held up to the onslaught!

Love to all

OMB xx

Good to hear from you OMB! So glad to hear you are winning the battle (as long and hard as it is). Graded Motor Imagery...interesting. I will have to ask my physio if she is familiar with this. How often do you go for physio? Do you have to travel far for it?

OMB - so good to hear from you and so great to hear of your improvements.

Your attitude is incredible...a good reminder for me and everyone that as much as this is a physical issue the mental battle is just as important.

Amazing to hear that a bout of IBS didn't set you back...excellent news.

Always great to hear about progress...always brings a smile to my face.

All best - Canadabum

Msimon.... Great to see you.... How are you doing??

The physio is a hands off type. I go once a month at the moment. Google it... It's very interesting, and makes alot of sense to me.

Thankyou for your support canadabum....you are such a great comfort to others despite your own battle. Xx

God bless you OMB

Great to see you still here inspiring others and keeping
up the fight yourself. Way to muddle through that bout
with IBS, your a winner in my book.

Yes that GMI (Graded motor imagery) sounds interesting.
That you would try this along with a host of other things
over the years is a testament over "your" sincere desire
to beat this thing and be done with it.

That therapy sounds a lot like what the body does
to itself in the case of the placebo effect in curing
itself. Yes OMB just visualizing that whole area down
there healing and meditating on that daily even
praying about it I believe will help you.

:smilyhug:

Good luck to you, stay strong

Thanks OMB. I'm doing alright. I go for physio weekly (hands on...or rather fingers in. lol) and injections when I can get them. The Doctor doing that though just had a stroke so I don't forsee that happening again for a while. Arg. Overall, more better days than before so I guess things are going in the right direction.

I asked my physio about graded motor imagery and it sounds really interesting. I guess you can even get an app for your phone for it. She thinks I have more adhesion issues at this point, rather than neurological. Were you checked for adhesions?

I have no adhesions that I know of. When I had my EUA there was only a nearly healed fissure and polyp that was removed. That was a year ago now!

I'm glad to hear things are getting better for you... It's been a long old struggle for you! Is there not another Dr that can do your injections... Or do you not trust anyone else!?! :men45:
