However, i keep reminding myself, it took 5 to 7 weeks for the people in the study to heal. So its only my third week of it and im definately better off now than i was three weeks ago.

So how is the healing going for guiness? I'd also like to know if those of you using the "finger trick" are still doing so and is it doing any good?

Hi,  everyone, I  do the finger pressing technique when, I feel a fuller BM crowning my rectum.
I also apply the squeeze and release the cheek's to prevent the cut glass effect.
It sounds like the toilet seat is working..that's great.:)
I alternate, only when I need  that little extra help or my colon has become a little sluggish.
take care all...Image

Im still using and will continue using the seat. Had two really good weeks, only one day with some mild pain. I think the seat saved my ass for sure. I use the finger away from home. Its the first movement of the day that is the most trouble for people i think...and this for me is at home in the morning, since i take miralax at bedtime. Two more weeks til i go back to crs....

Since starting lactulose, my BM has been so soft and easy to pass, that I dont need the finger support to have a painfree BM. So I stopped some 14 days ago.
- Fissure developed in Jan '13
- Started rectogesic in Feb '13 and diltiazem Apr '13.
- Got botox Jun '13
- Healed by Okt '13, although I still had some irritation for about a year.
- New fissure April '22, healed June 2022
- New fissure 24. December 2023

It's hard to explain, actually Buttastic told us a while back and my Gastro doctor discussed it with me.
Well let's start here, MY Doctor, as best as I can explain her technique..told me to (as the BM reach's or crowns my rectum, to ever so gently, release, like a reverse kegal (that women do, to tighten ,down there)by pressing my cheek's together as I gently let go, I wouldn't call it pushing, it's once agian like a reverse kegal, this intern prevents the rectum from opening up to wide and spasm,(my doctor told my you will know it worked by the BM being flatter formed and longer) so as not to get the broken glass effect..I still mite get some soreness, or slight spasm, but not intense..untill that setback last week..but I think I'm back on track..Check out Buttastic's approach as well.
I'm glad for you..way to go Jhh, I'm using Restoralax (Canadian movical and mIralax) about twice a week, when I need it, in the morning.
When Do you use the Lactulose?
Take care all..:)

Please go away...
It's great to hear that a doctor is actually thinking this through and making some novel suggestions. I've been doing a variation on this kind of thing for a really long time depending on which fissures are most active at any one time (i'm really lucky that way, i get fissures on both the anterior and posterior side).
Guiness ... great to hear you're still seeing overall improvement!
