Hi! I am 44, had perirectal abscess earlier this week, surgical I and D. Stool is coming out of wound, first noticed tonight. Was trying to hold loose stool but was on dressing when I arrived in bathroom. So now I have a fistula. Told by surgeon on activecall that NM has one surgeon that does fistulas, will be months before I can see him. Please tell me how this is going to affect my life in the short term? Will I need diapers? Can I work (am a nurse, stressful, active). Will gas seep out? Will I get infections? I'm finding tons of info about surgery but not much about effect on daily living.

I appreciate any comments, tips, suggestions, etc.

Thanks!
