Jen - sweetie - really, it is sooooo unlikely , I mean NONE of my CRSs had a single case of incontinence in 20 and 30 years of experience respectively - can you imagine how many patients that involves ???? Nobody here got incontinent either. And you know that
if anybody I am a "preppie" girl , but believe me, if ass fairy would come tonight and say "Fissy - you will be free of pain forever but you will fart " - I would take it in a split of a second !!! Other fact is that when sphincter is relaxed - you can not hear a fart - it goes out silent ! It has no resistance so it does not make any noise. I know that for a fact since it was like that when I just had a LIS. Gas did not go out without a control, but when I would let it go it would be as silent and a mouse !!! You know that we have a second sphincter that is making our anus - right ? That one is under our control and it greatly helps regulating pooping and gas evacuation. Also, there are all kind of supplements and products that block gas formation or turn it in small bubbles. I know how worried you are - we all were before the LIS. Of course it is worrisome Image !!! I just know that it is very VERY unlikely that you will have bad side effects and that your CRS is first class - I wish any of mine would be that positive and sure in what they are doing - it would help me mentally to cope with it all much ,much better than leaving everything "up to me" to decide of what to do or not Image None of them ever had a definite plan for me or course of action and it made me so distressed at a time Image My laser guy is at least gentle and wants to explore it in detail and I have to try to start trusting him but it is so hard after so many times they "dropped me on my head" :( .
All will be fine Jen - never forget that chronic fissure can make one incontinent over time anyway Image . Big scar forms and than leaks happen . Also, the longer you have a fissure , the deeper it goes into its chronicity  . My first CRS told me not to wait more than a year Image If I would change anything - it would be that I would have it after 12 weeks when it was first offered and maybe that I would go with other CRS !
Mirror - nay - it will not bring you bad luck Image LOL. Once you have a fissure all bad luck vibes are already used up Image

Corsi- glad you have a wonderful competent doctor- they seem to be a very rare breed, seldom seen these days Image and its so true, any operation will have a long list of what could go wrong. That is so that we sign that we are aware of all the risks and cant sue them! But they are very unlikely to happen.
Jen- I think incontinence is always the thing we worry about most - thats the reason, well apart from being terrified of course, that I put off having LIS for so long, but my only regret is suffering 7 long months of it when it could have been fixed months before.

Fiss: you are so funny, and the mother of all mothers - always there to support! Image I like you! It is good that you clear up things.

I don't know when it will take place, either asap or in a month. He will call me today or tomorrow. The manometry test didn't hurt much, but getting it in and wasn't very funny...
He told me that when they do LIS they cut at 3 o'clock, he even drew a picture! My fissure is at 6 o'clock, most fissures are aren't they??
Jen, I really understand that you are insecure about the incontinence, but from what my doctor told me, being tight/having spasm is typical for us fissurepeople
Thank you girls (+ Kim) for being there Image Image Image
How are your fissures behaving now? I would really like to hear...

my fissure is at about 7:45 Image I think most are at 6 or 12 o clock though!
I'm not sure which bit they cut. After my op, my CRS told me I was "very very tiny", so I always assume if we are built with a teensy tiny sphincter, then we are in the firing line to get a fissure. There's got to be some kind of reason!! I never ate junk food much, and had a really healthy diet, never constipated, yet I got one. And now, after LIS, I STILL have one!! Image

Corsi - Thanks LOL, and I am very happy if I can ease worries - we here have more than a fair share : ( Image My fissure is also 6 o'clock and it is actually only 10 % of all fissures . 90% are on 12 o'clock (toward the spine ). I think that women have more incidence of 6 o'clock since their pelvic area is weakened by childbirth : (. Thanks for asking us all about our present status - my fissure is closed on the surface but is there. I know it is there since I feel a pinch during BM on that place and because my skin tags are inflamed : (. Not a humongous deal , but enough to make me nervous and uncomfortable and worried if this is ever going to stop : ( !?! I have colonoscopy tomorrow and I will have diarrhea for the whole evening and I hope my fissure will not hurt too much. Thank you for describing us your manometry test , I am sure many will be happy to her that it is not unbearably uncomfortable ! Did he tell you the exact number of tightness? What unit they use to describe it , kilo-ponds or something? ; )))
This is probably going to be my last posting for today - it would not be hygienic to take a lap-top in the bathroom LOL , so I wish you all pain free day and "see you tomorrow night " !!!
Val - my sweet buddy :sprinkleheart: - how are you today Image !!!??? I hope your left angel wing is little bit better and that your bum-bum is not giving you too much trouble :( !!! Did you find some good pain management yet ? Did they put you on the waiting list already ??? I just can't believe what are they doing to you :( - I think about you every single day Image and wish I can do something more - I wish I have extra money to send you as a gift so you can have that surgery tomorrow Image Why only people who are stingy are rich ??? Or maybe one has to be stingy to be rich  Image .
You have no idea how happy I was when you said that I made you laugh
Image - I wish my brain functions as well as a year before so that I can write more funny stories for us all  !!!
LOVE YOU ALL Image

No, he didn't say any number, but when doing it he said "There's no doubt, this is tight...as expected".
Yesterday and today have been better, isn't i typical??? But, I will go for LIS anyway....still waiting for the doctor to call me.

Corsi, I've always thought there was a little "fissure gremlin" out there somewhere, because he listens when we tell everyone we had a good day, and then WHAM, back comes all the pain. And, if you threaten it with LIS, it suddenly hibernates Image but beware, it will sneak up again as soon as you cancel that appointment!!!
Fissy- you always make me crack up laughing, and then I sometimes think of some of the little gems that you've said in a doctors waiting room, or somewhere just as subdued, and I suddenly want to laugh, but cant!! I think you should be on the stage!
I had an MRI today and I'm trying to fix an appt to see the specialist again, and THEN I'll be on the 5 month waiting list Image

Funny Val, I love it when people have humour an irony...
I really like dry British humour, that is what I love most about Britain. Have you read P.G. Woodhouse?
Take care of you 7:45 o'clock fissure :D

Val - That quote is so funny, yet so true. I have felt awsome lately, but if I cancel my LIS on Friday, Saturday my fissure will attack! :)

Corsi- no, I haven't read P.G Woodhouse. What kind of books does he/she write?
Jen- yes, you can be sure it will fight back on saturday!
I wonder if we all write that we feel absolutely dreadful, then do you think we will miraculously heal?? Image
