TERMS:
AF = Anal Fissure
BM = Bowel Movement
CRS = Colon and Rectal Surgeon
LIS = Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy
SAD = Standardized Anal Dilation
THD = Transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization
EUA = Examination Under Anesthesia
MEDICATION:
Miralax (US) = Movicol (UK)
Advil (US) = Nurofen (UK)
Nitroglycerin (US) = rectogesic (UK)
GTN = Glyceryl trinitrate
Metamucil/citrucel (US) = fybogel (UK) more or less anyways
Miralax (US) = Movicol (UK) = Restoralax (Canada)
DILTIAZEM = a calcium channel blocker. In the treatment of fissures it is given in ointment/gel form and
it works by relaxing the muscle around the anus (the anal sphincter), thereby reducing the anal pressure
and increasing the blood flow to the area to allow healing to occur.
ANOHEAL 2% (UK) = Diltiazem
NIFEDIPINE = a calcium channel blocker. It is used in the same way as Diltiazem.
RECTIV (US) = nitroglycerin Ointment 0.4%.
