manuka honey

Postby suggi » 01 Nov 2014, 19:12

Besides my fissures and allergies my whole anal area is sore probably from everything I have been trying and I desperately need something to calm it down before seeing the CRS next week. I wrote my whole story in the post about an hour ago. Some say it burns for about 15 minutes and then is OK. Would I be able to tolerate the burn in the whole anal area -- so far all I have used has caused that burning all over anyway only it does not go away in 15 minutes....kind of with me all day. Wish I could do sitz bath but per urologist with my urethral scar tissue and inflammation and prone to UTIs I can not do sitz baths.

Please if someone could help.

Thank you.

Have you tried a heating pad? Or even a warm wet cloth while laying on your stomach (to keep the urethral area dry)?

Do you mean lying on a heating pad under my bottom -- had not thought of that?

Yeah, either laying on your stomach and putting the heating pad on your bum or laying on your back with the heating pad underneath you. Just make sure you use gentle/low heat so it doesn't warm the other areas down there that you don't want to and to not increase inflammation. I also would't leave it on any longer that 20 minutes at a time so as to not make things inflamed.

Alternatively, have you tried ice? Ibuprofen?

I take Tylenol but haven't tried ice either.

I wondered about the manuka honey because way back when I had to see an ENT she said to use makuka honey in my nose and it did burn a little for a few minutes and then the burn went away and it cured my bloodly, scabbie nose. I figured that tissue inside the nose is probably close to the tissue in the rectal/anal area. However, it is so sore I do not think I could stand any more burning. It is supposed to be a wonderful healing agent for just about everything.

Yes, I heard that too and had the same experience (I get cracked nostrils) and tried it in my butt one day and the burning was sooooo bad. I figured the spasm that must have caused counteracted any healing effect. I have since tried comfrey ointment and think it may help. I found a salve that is quite pure and it hasn't burned yet.
