Postby PeterHonMD » 10 Jul 2012, 12:03

My name is Dr. Hon and I'm a colon and rectal surgeon in practice in manhattan in New York city. I see alot of fissures and I treat them medically as well as surgically (controlled anal dilatation and sphincterotomy).
Hope I can contribute to the community

Welcome!
I add my "thank you" for joining!
Another physician on the east coast who offers standardized dilatation as an option. That is really great to hear.
I just wish some of you would move to the west coast! :)

Wow. Thank you for joining.
One question Dr. In your experience, do people ever fully recover and lead a normal life or is it a case of, once an AF sufferer, always an AF sufferer? Do you just have to learn to live with it?

it really depends. most people get better, some people need more time/treatments.

Hi Doctor and Thank you for signing on!!!
I do have a question...When a patient has a chronic fissure that hasn't healed and has reached the point where surgery is now being considered, how do you decide between lis/dilation? How do you base your opinion/recommendation for which way to proceed?
Your input is greatly appreciated.

The doctor did not come back to our forum again, helpme. Not since 2012.

I believe Dr. Feingold does the dilation procedure. We have had a few people on here who have had excellent results with him.
