Relaxation of anus/sphincter

Postby That_Kid » 03 Mar 2016, 13:16

Hi, I am in desperate need of help. I have been dealing with encopresis since I was 3, and it finally went away when I was 14. I am 15 now, and as long as I take my Miralax daily, it's fine, I just need to clear everything out. In the past few months, I have had problems again; constipation. Now I've done flushes while I was constipated and it made it worse, and I found out it's not my colon, it's the sphincter/anus. My body is literally closing up. I feel it pushing in my rectum but my anus won't open. I'm graduating after summer (immediately going to college), and I need to find a way to fix this before I leave to live on my own. I've used stools to emulate a squatting position on the toilet, I've used muscle relaxants, glycerin suppositories, magnesium citrate, a couple of sulfate things, I've even tries n2o from a can to see if it would relax everything. I've done high fiber diets, eaten 3 tablespoons of olive oil (gross but i heard it works) at each meal, pretty much everything I can. I plan on joining the military after college, and it especially needs to be fixed by then. Short term, it's limiting my schooling because I can't go to school because I get constipated for days, last time I think I didn't poop for 7 or 8 days. I get bloated, puke, have pain in my anus and my stomach, and have a constant feel that I need to go to the bathroom. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm only 15 and my entire life plan, all of my goals are being ruined by my own body. I've had to stop working out, I'm getting fat, and the bloating makes it look even worse, and I can't find anything online about relaxing the sphincter, just about softening the stool. I have had an enema before and it didn't help anything. I don't know what to do. someone please help me to figure out how to relax my sphincter.

Sorry you are going through this. Above all, don't panic, and try to relax. Do you have access to a physical therapist? They can help you relax the sphincter muscle. If you can, take a look at the book A Headache in the Pelvis, by David Wise and Rodney Anderson. I have no connection to the authors, but their book is worth reading and it might help you.

This is something that you should talk with your parents about That_Kid. We are not in any way able to advise you what to do, as we are not doctors. Hope you can sort it out between you, your parents and a qualified physician. Best of luck!!
