Hi Savaici, I thought it would be great if we could have a sticky for advancement flap surgery like the one for LIS. Its hard to find a lot of information on people's experiences of this surgery both on this forum and elsewhere and it would be great for those of us who have been told that LIS isn't an option to be able to read more about each other's experiences of advancement flaps. Thanks :)

Nick, do you mean a sub-forum? If so, I can do that. A sticky is just one post.

I've made the sub-forum. Will gradually move relevant posts into there so people don't have to search. Any links, etc., just let me know or add them.

Thanks Savaici, I appreciate that. And I will add over the coming weeks/months. I'm going to do all the research I can now on advancement flaps as it's looking like that will be my next procedure. I'm also going to speak with several colorectal surgeons in the U.K. And US and if they tell me anything useful, I'll post that too.

Thanks again

Hi Nick
I have had LIS and don't have stenosis but I have a very complicated medical situation and have crohns IBS and liver issues. Most CRS I saw were very unhelpful.
I researched big time and found one that specialised in IBDs...I paid for a private appointment £250 for 40 mins but he then put me on his NHS list, I would recommend you do this...most private surgeons in the U.K. Also work on the NHS and are happy to transfer you.
If you are in the north of England then I would highly recommend Mr S Brown...at the northern general he gave me LIS when no one else would and I know he does the flap surgery, more importantly he listens to what the patient needs this is essential when dealing with something that can totally ruin our lives.
Good luck on your search

Thanks MPB. That's exactly what I'm thinking of doing. I'm going to see a few different CRS's privately and see which one I think will be best suited to do the advancement flap. Unfortunately I'm in London, not the north but thank you for that advice. If you happen to come across anyone you think might be good in the south, please let me know :)

And I totally agree about the CRS's being unhelpful here. I've seen quite a few now and they all think it's okay to simply say that they don't know what to do with me. As if it's no big deal to send you away to live your life in such extreme pain. I can't help but think that it's because the NHS is so over stretched that they simply don't have the time to try and figure out solutions for complicated cases. So im definitely going private now and hopefully they will put me on their NHS list for surgery when I find someone good.

Thank you for your message

Nick,

Have you researched Mr. Windsor? A few of our members have seen him in London, including pinpin, another of our administrators. Below is a link to posts where his name is mentioned. Very highly respected CRS.
