I don't get tired or expressing the fact that a fissure while will not go away immediately but for the lucky ones, they definitely get better, with the proper care and management, trial and error a routine you can stick with, it does gets better, eventually the better days will turn into weeks and then now like me two months, after six of suffering.
Yes is set back but no losing hope will bring you back in track and never get as worst as in the beginning unless you really are so far gone with a chronic fissure that only surgery will fix it.
And surgery should always be the last solution to the problem, because even when surgery helps many is also those that will not.
You will never know in which group you will be until you have it.
but things will get better, life can have some normacy with a more manageable fissure.

Thanks Marg, the chronic fissure is really hurting now, knife pains and itching! The new fissure is also painful. I really am down on hope that the Botox is going to work! I think stress could be making me worse, but the more pain I get, the more stress I get. My relationship is breaking down.

Marg is right Rachael, the fissure pain will ease up with time, and does become more bearable, and manageable. It's just a slow process.
Sorry, I haven't been on the board for a while, and haven't got time to read through so many old posts, but are you using any creams/stool softeners? How are you getting on with them?
It's a truly miserable place to be when you have freshly opened fissures... But take good care of yourself... One day at a time... And things will start to ease for you.

Hi OMB, the one fissure is chronic, and the other is acute. I have been advised to use Nitro for the second time, but I feel like it is irritating me. I am on macrogol stool softener and using Vaseline to lubricate. Botox is on 4th April. I am scared I will never heal. The burning is awful and the knife pain is unbearable. I have got Vit E suppositories, but when I used one it itched!! I have tried so many things, I have come to the end of the line! How long have you had your Fissure?

You will definitely heal. If Botox and LIS were to fail (highly, highly unlikely) you could have a temporary colostomy. There is no way you'll have to live with this forever Rachel :)

The problem is, and you get this with everything, that people are more likely to talk about something that has gone wrong as opposed to something that has gone right.
So you're more likely to read horror stories than success stories. It's just human nature... we can be miserable buggers at times!
I'll be online all day tomorrow (I am every day) so if you get down, post here and we can share some more bum stories Image
