Postop: Fissurectomy and Botox

Postby Deleted User 3641 » 17 Jul 2014, 18:07

I am in pain after the novacaine wore off. Doctor said I can take Motrin if there is pain. I took a Valium couple of hours ago. I have had chicken broth and a small mount of seedless watermelon (at home) and a popsicle (at hospital).
Will Motrin make me constipated if i take it now? I feel i have spasms now which are coming and going. I am moaning in pain. Only positions somewhat bearable are standing or lying on my back with my legs bent at the knees. Cant sit in sitz bath for too long. Need some relief.

Motrin does not constipate. They should have given you norco or vicodin, I would call in for a prescription for a stronger painkiller. Those do constipate but not in small doses and you can add miralax to help. Sorry you are suffering.

thanks for the input. i think the air/gas trapped inside caused a lot of discomfort. seems better now. only issue is that i sat on the toilet late morni g because i felt like a bm but when i wiped, a whole lot of blood was there. no bm yet just blood. i used the sitz bath to clean up without pain. concerned about the next real bm.

Took Valium and motrin after the absolute worst BM of my life. From a scale of 1 to 10 I would say it was in 15. It literally left me screaming, sweating and trembling in pain until both medications kicked in. I called the on call doctor beforehand and he agreed that a glycerin suppository was needed since I should not remain constipated for 3 days. I did it and felt like jumping out of the window. I prepped with coconut oil on and in the anus and on the suppository. Stool was just do hard to make a difference. Just had 300 mg of motrin with food and Valium and seem better now.

Just took a full dose of Miralax and have taken 200mg of colace today already. Want this nightmare to end. Just need a normal BM tomorrow. Trying to be strong but this is not easy. Please tell me it gets better real soon.

Stay on the miralax every day. Did your doc not prescribe real painkillers? I think you need some. I was on norco after my surgery. It is necessary for surgery in that area which is extremely painful.

Sorry you are struggling. It does get better, slowly but it will. Miralax and a lot of water is the answer for soft stools. I had hard stools the first couple of days after Botox. The anesthesia really takes a toll on the body. Hoping you have better days soon.

Thanks. I am not taking any chances and am taking your advice. My doctor friend, a pain specialist, (not the CRS that performed surgery) says up to 600mg of Motrin a day is the max I can take and it can be taken with Valium without any problems. I took 300 last night with a Valium after my painful BM and 200mg Motrin this morning to prep for a BM along with 100mg of colace and a full dose of miralax. Also just had a warm glass of prune juice and a warm glass of fresh lemon juice with a little creamy organic oatmeal with ground flax seed and a half a sliced apple. Gas seems to be passing with some leakage probably due to the Botox starting to take effect.
Good news is I didn't see any blood since the first day after surgery. Trying not to sit for too long and move around the house or lie down instead. I might try to walk outside for 10 minutes or so if I feel adventurous :) Going bonkers but I am hopeful it will get better.
Thanks for all of the support, guys.

Bleeding when I feel the urge to go. I am guessing this is normal. Slight stinging afterwards but I immediately do a sitz bath and then lie down. Can't seem to sit. I think that may be putting too much pressure and is causing the bleeding. The amount of blood looks scary. It's not streaming out though but it is enough to freak me out.
