Does this happen to anyone else....?

Postby Mae » 28 May 2015, 09:56

I haven't had any pain or bleeding for a few weeks so I think my fissure is healing. No pain when having bowel movements that is. When I'm stressed like sitting in traffic when I'm late for work..... Sometimes I get a sharp pain like skin is being pinched. Could be maybe just be my skin tag getting pinched somehow?

Oh sure. Fissures often go asymptomatic before they are fully healed. Many of us butt-pain sufferers tend to clench our butts when stressed so it makes sense that clenching on a wound would cause pain. In addition, apparently the tone in our internal sphincter also increases when under stress. All the more reason to work on relaxation as part of the healing process (something I need to spend a lot more time doing).

Glad to hear things are going so well. Hopefully full healing is coming very soon for you.

Totally, it happened to me a lot. The worse the stress the longer the pain would last. Sometimes I wouldn't even realise I was stressed until I felt that prickle in my bottom!
I learned to consciously relax my bottom, not just in stressful times but all the time.
Now it's not an issue any more. So glad to know you are getting better - keep up the good healing, and try checking in with your butt several times a day, to deliberately relax it.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

It's weird cuz it only takes a slight tightening sometimes. Before this fissure business started I used to carry tension in all my muscles all the time. I didn't listen to people when they said it would cause health problems lol. Well now I'm paying the price!

I've gotten good at not clenching hard, but the slight clenches still get me sometimes, I don't know why. Maybe because it's for long periods of time before I realize.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a HUGE worrier. I have social anxiety and health anxiety so the moments when I feel truly relaxed are rare. Sigh...

I get the same. Clench the wrong way and then get a shooting pinch pain. Sigh.
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

How severe are they, Fissurefrustration? Mine are fairly mild at this point. It does feel like a pinch though.

The pain? When it catches me on a twinge the pain shoots to a 7/10 before receeding

Yikes that doesn't sound fun. Mine used to be sharp but they've been a little better lately. I'm trying to make a conscious effort to relax my muscles but it's a gradual process. I guess muscles get used to doing things and you have to retrain them. It's like how sitting up straight feels weird cuz my muscles are used to slouching. Sort of.

Yes, it's a matter of retraining.
Weird thing - I'm under some stress at the moment, and instead of my bum clenching, I've got a tic on the side of one nostril. Far preferable than anal pain! But so odd!
