Mine was massive and went right up to the muscle. But size is irrelevant - some people can have a huge one with very little pain, some have very small ones and are in agony. I think it depends on it's location. Mine is at 4 o clock.

How long have you had the fissure for? Have you got any of the healing creams? If you get a retear just treat it like you would the first time - up the stool softeners, take salty baths, up water intake and use the cream again until it heals again.

Alot of us fissure sufferers are the over-anxious type! Myself included! Try not to worry too much. I have non-healing fissures and reocurring fistulas but no underlying condition. I hope you have found a good CRS with lots of knowledge!! Best of luck for your appointment on monday!
