Re: Feces stay inside the wound. Any solution?

I agree with Dawn - I don't really think that area can ever be totally clean.
It will feel swollen for a while, it's quite slow to heal. Just do your best to keep it clean, and keep an eye on things.

Re: After Fistula Surgery, but still discharge pus. Is that ok?

When they do a fistulotomy, they "deroof" it, and turn it into a trench. It does tend to drain pus for a little while, but it shouldn't smell, and should feel like a "clean" sort of pain, rather than the irritated sore pinching that you got before the op.

Re: Fissure back again!?

The splattering blood is rather alarming! It sure bleeds a lot for a small tear.
A fissure does tend to keep coming back each time you think you are healed - it's quite depressing.
Have you seen a colo-rectal surgeon?

Re: fissure and stress?

Stress didn't cause my fissure, but it certainly made it worse. And I'm an anxious person too.......

Re: Long Time Sufferer, glad to find others

Hi Sue, a very big welcome to you!
Have they considered doing LIS on you? It has helped many of us to heal, and as you have been suffering for so many years, might be a good option?
sorry about your dad, that's very sad.

Re: One month after surgery

Aw, yes, it takes ages! Sorry to say! My fistula has been healing since june and I've still got problems. You have to measure your healing time in weeks and months - not days and weeks. Make sure you are doing all you can to help it - good diet, stool softeners, and baths to keep it clean. It will he...

Re: I'm back but in pain again!!!

Aww, sorry to hear that Steve.
Sadly, it does seem to rear it's ugly head again - I'm not sure if that area ever gets totally back to normal. But you should heal quicker any time you do get a retear now you've had the LIS.
Hang in there, I hope you feel better soon.

Re: bummer, got worse, feeling sad

I had the spasms in the "ladyparts" too- the whole area gets affected by it.
If nitro gives you headaches, try using a little less and taking a painkiller half hour before you use it.

Re: How to cope after a re-tear

If you've had it for a year it is extremely unlikely to heal with creams/baths/diets. You should ask your gp to refer you to a colo-rectal surgeon and get some kind of medical intervention such as LIS, botox ect.
The movicol is very good and should give some relief after a few days.
