Too many BMs a day. What am I doing wrong?

Postby Lior55 » 01 Sep 2017, 18:18

I had the LIS on Tuesday (3 days ago). I'm recovering slowly but my main problem is that I go to the bathroom too many times. Usually 3 times a day and it aggrievets the fissure. I worry it won't heal this way.
I eat well- lots of veggies, fruit , some form of whole grains (cereal or brown rice or quinoa), sometimes beans. Drink tons of water. I don't take fiber because I think I'm getting plenty from my diet (but maybe not?)
I take two stool softeners before bed.
I usually don't have issue with constipation , my diet has been pretty good before all of this too.
My stool is very soft, not formed really.
It's like I don't seem to get it all out in the first morning BM and end up going 2 or even 3 more times, sometimes just for a little bit.
I'm looking for a way to decrease BM without making it harder or too firm.
Could it be the stool softeners? Or maybe not enough fiber? Maybe too much fiber?
Would love to hear ideas... I really think that having 1 BM a day can help with my healing.

Perhaps try reducing the amount of insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps to firm up the stool and makes it move slower as well. I've found 2tsp benefiber in the morning plus 3/4 cap miralax in the night produces a good consistency.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy
