Thank you. Again I belong to a yahoo analfissure group that is very helpful as well. I read some of your entries prior to joining and you all appear to have the same nagging injury?

Image Hi there,
hope you're not hurting too much! I had success with diltiazem - it really helped with the spasms and pain, but then I got an abcess/fistula so had the LIS, but I think it's really good stuff.

FB,
I used nefedipine, which is just like the diltiazem, and even though it did not heal my fissure, it sure made my life more tolerable. If you want to see what I mean, just try NOT using it for a week or so and watch your pain levels, in all likelihood, go up!
It has about a 50 - 75% success rate in healing.

So Kim,
What you are saying is that the diltiazem is only good if you keep applying it? I wouldnt want to take the chance of not using it for a week! But what it is designed to do is relax the anal sphincter muscle so you are not longer in spasm and then the fissure can heal. Obviously if you are in pain you will always be in spasm
