Herbal Cleanse

Postby Marsh37 » 07 Jan 2010, 12:46

Hi Everyone
I went to the Dr and he is suggesting that I have the surgery. I want to but, the short term disablity will only pay me 50% of my salary and I cant afford to fall behind on bills.
So I spoke to an herbalist and she recommends doing a herbal Cleanse
I just wanted to know what you guys think?
I think that would make it worse.. Just my opinion.
Thanks
Marsha

If you are talking about a colon cleanse, you need to consider if having very loose stool is going to be painful for you. Some of the colon cleansing herbs can affect you for 24 hours, not just a one stop and you are done. I have done a Colon Cleanse (before the af nightmare) and it definitely cleaned me out, for about 2 days. Without the af, I was sore from having so many BMs.

Marsha,
I would be very wary of a colon cleanse, especially if you have an AF!!

I am a big proponent of natural remedies , but I do not see in what way the "colon cleanse " can possibly help  Image ! Two days of loose stools would not make any difference whatsoever Image and could possibly further irritate the area Image .
If you are reluctant to have a surgery than other conservative methods are available . Did you try Botox, Nitro-cream etc. ???
I wish you the best of luck Image

Yes, I tried the nitro and get gives me a really bad headaches the dr did not give me the option of botox. I did not see the benefit in a cleanse for this issue. Some people just like to sell stuff and I think thats why they recommended that.. Thank you for your help Image

Hey Marsh,
Have you given the laxative Miralax a try yet? I apologize if you've already mentioned it in the past, I don't recall. But if you haven't I'd highly suggest it. It's done wonders for making my fissure more tolerable.
Also the nitro headaches usually go away after a few days. I've been using it for months. The first few days it gave me bad throbbing headaches but after a week or two I could put on gobs of the stuff without noticing anything at all.

HMMM No I hvent tried Miralax yet... I was given Nitro-bid. Does the miralax have a taste? I was also told to take Vitamin b6 after eating and fish oil because that is supposed to keep everything loosie goosie. Image

Miralax is mixed into the drink of your choice and has a very mild plastic taste. But you get used to it very quickly and it's quite effective for most folks at softening stools.
Is this the Nitro-BID you were given?

Just curious because I received the same stuff this weekend. But mine was supposed to be compounded to 0.2% nitroglycerin whereas Nitro-BID right out of the tube is 2% nitroglycerin, which is way stronger. If you're using 2% nitroglycerin then that could definitely explain the bad headaches. Fissures usually call for 0.2% to 0.4% nitroglycerin ointment, not 2%.

P.S. For the link above, it looks like the underscore makes it so it's not an active link. You'll need to copy/paste the URL into your browser. I'd be pretty curious as to whether it's what you were given.
