diet for small stool

Postby kmax1940 » 14 May 2010, 14:33

I searched online but could not find anything about this...
Does anyone know if there is a diet to help make stool smaller?
I think the stool being too big is part of what keeps breaking my fissure...
It is sooooo hard to keep things consistent...
I need to find a way to keep them small... and soft :)

I think fiber supplements like Benefiber can help things to be consistent. I started improving after I added Benefiber to my regimen.

Not all fibers do that. There are soluble and insoluble fibers and insoluble ones make poop bigger much more than soluble ones.
Metamucil makes my poop bigger and Benefiber actually too runny and not big at all Image
But - it could be just me Image
If you eat a lot of fresh mango, pineapple, or oranges and beans of any kind and yams for example - your poop should be very soft and nice ; ))) I had a chicken breast with pineapple yesterday and my poop this morning was gliding out like "a dream" (yes - only person with butt problems can see poop "dreamy" LMAO) - no feeling whatsoever - I was like - OMG - this is niiiiiceeee LMAO
Best of luck - and yes- add SOLUBLE fiber !!!

Oh- we posted at the same time - hope you will read it all over again since I edited Image.
I always use powders since it gives also a lot of water that is necessary for fiber to work ! Many members would describe poop after the pills like :hard - soft- hard- soft in waves -depending when pill opened Image

I use the Benefiber powder. I have tried "chewables" in the past and didn't take enough water/liquid like Fiss states. And fiber without enough water was not a good result. Used to chew Fibercon chewables which also gave me cramps and gass. Good luck!! I think it is a personal thing how different people react to different fiber supplements and laxatives. That was what made it so difficult (and nerve wracking) for me!!

Yes metamucil powder seems to be better than benefiber tablets.
