Maybe consult your PT once again? I would ask about trigger point injections as well.

Trigger point injections relieve spasm in a muscle. They are usually done with lidocaine.

I don't think CRS doctors do that procedure. That's something a pain management doctor would do, but I'm not aware of other specialties that practice it.

Does physical therapy help you? It helped me for the three months I was in it...

Yes it helped me a lot. I used to have a lot of pain during the day which went away with PT. Unfortunately I reached a plateau and trigger point injections were suggested as the next step.

@ patience, did you have trigger point injections done? Were they helpful to you?

I've been in PT since January (less a nearly 3 month period where the office was closed due to Covid restrictions) for left-sided sitting pain and residual spasm I've had since my LIS surgery in June 2019. I have had some progress with PT, but have plateaued as well and my doctor mentioned trigger point injections as an option... but I know nothing about them and am hesitant to do any kind of injection.

I had the trigger point injections and they were not very helpful. I found Botox injections to the pelvic floor to be more helpful with pain and tension reduction. I would suggest that you only see someone who has a lot of experience in this before getting anything done.

I can understand the reluctance with getting injections. But for me I had plateaued with PT and I needed more intervention. In general they are low risk for infections. Although I did find that my internal hemorrhoids grew a bit larger, not sure why though.
