Internal fissure

Postby desperatehousewife » 25 Feb 2011, 14:15

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had an internal fissure that could not be seen from the outside? If so, how did your doctor find it?

My fissure could not be seen from the outside, and my DR diagnosed it by merely inserting his finger and watching me writhe about on the bed, this is the way it's diagnosed routinely, the other way is under anaesthesia using a scope, at least that's how they do it here in the UK

Ya, my first fissure was like that - not easily seen. When doing a digit exam they could feel it since it had a lot of scar tissue and I could feel too......... Image

I have had this problem for over 4 years and seen lots of doctors and two specialists and none of them have actually seen my fissure.
Although to begin with I did have a couple of the digital exams by doctors that Steve mentioned and that didn't leave much doubt!
I think it's healed several times so when I was examined with a 'scope, and this was early on, it wasn't there.
Now it's too painful for a digital exam and so will prob have an exam under anaesthetic next.
Also in my case all the symptoms and usual bleeding are there, and everything else has been ruled out.

Mine isn't visible from the outside, but the skin tag is... (it kind of protrudes out... yuck).

Mine is internal as well with no visible marks. However, when my doctor put her finger there she jumped back in shock - never a good sign.
