Miralax ?

Postby better days » 23 Apr 2011, 13:49

Is it safe to take Miralax for an extended amount of time? I have used it for about two weeks and his has worked great.
I told my doctor and he said it is okay to take every now and then but not to use it too often because my body will become dependent on it.
Has anyone used it longer or been told it that it is okay to use longer if needed? I went back to metamucil but I am nervous to get another tear due to the larger BM that sometimes comes from the increased fiber.

When I mentioned it to my GP she said long term use is fine if you r otherwise healthy but she said you have to wean yourself off it very gradually. The relief it's given some of us including me is worth it. I wouldn't care if I had to take it forever. It has eliminated the BM terrors!

Many of us here plan to take it indefinitely.
