Hey Sue!
I'm doing ok. Weirdly the fissure seems to have calmed down over the past two weeks (I'm wary of admitting that out loud in case it gets horrible again lol). I've not been using anything but movicol while I wait for the anoheal to arrive (took forever for my dr to give me a prescription and now forever for the chemist to order it. They're acting like it's made on Mars by aliens for all the trouble it takes to get hold of it lol) and its not been bad at all. Enjoying the feeling while it lasts ha...
The thing that's driving me mental is the flipping thrush. Seriously bad. I think my problem is that I've over medicated with the over the counter canestan products and now they've stopped bloody working for me. The cream just burns and the pill does nothing at all. It used to work for a bit then go bad again but now it doesn't do anything at all. Spoke to a pharmacist and they said that my doctor could prescribe a stronger pill or pessary. Is that what you did? I am so so sick of going to the doctor but looks like its back I go...
How's it all going for you? Hope its been bearable and you've been able to work. I'm excited for you, for your appointment! The more I think about it, the more I think botox is a good route to go down if you're our age. I don't think my hospital does it but I'm gonna ask about it when I have my appointment.

I know what you mean, my fissure has totally calmed down too which will make me feel an idiot going into hospital to have treatment!! It does vary from day to day, even week to week though and I still get some spasms. I still get sore after a full day in work too! So I am hoping something will be done, glad something is finally happening. My GP (different one than I have been going to but still in the same practice) thinks the botox will really help and was very encouraging.
I went and requested a swab at the docs for the thrush, the nurse said I was inflamed when she looked at it and told me to stop using the canestan as she thought it had burnt my skin. I went to see this different GP in the practice who has told me the results of the swab were negative. He's been great as he also has a fresh perspective on my condition. He gave me some eumovate to try as he thought it was a skin condition and told me to stop it immediately if it made it worse. It did make it worse!! So went back and he gave me timodine which has really helped and I almost have no problems now. Have even been able to drop the cream off to once a day and he said he has no problem with me using it for a few months as its a very mild steroid. I would go back to your doc, get a swab and see what the results are. I had exactly the same as you with the burning and the oral tablet not working. Because canestan is a strong steroid (2%), putting more on damages your skin and in that area it is absorbed much more than say your hands or feet. The one I am on now is like 0.05% or 0.5%. If your swab is negative it may be that it takes a few months to calm down as I am at 7 weeks after stopping the cream and just have minor irritation now, the skin needs ages to recover. I hope you get that sorted, its a relief for me to be able to sit a bit better, especially in work!! I was so angry as really the other doc should have examined me and done a swab before as she was telling me to treat something that wasn't there!! The other thing I have tried is garlic tablets and they are working wonders, my fissure and IBS have got better. Its meant to destroy the bad bacteria but leaves the good and allow it to multiply so helps with thrush.
Botox may be worth an ask, I don't know much to be honest but think its quite a new and specialised thing which is why some hospitals don't do it. Hope you can get done what you want and can eventually start the new cream to help when it arrives! Oh and hope the new job is going well! :D
