Postby dwarfs8 » 23 Sep 2011, 09:06

Just asking in advance...
Anyone has used lidocaine jelly during pregnancy or any other lubricants? Is it still safe to do so?
ever since i have anal fissures and then piles, i have been using lidocaine jelly to lubricate before bms... don't dare to stop.. though i'm much better with the fissures already... :(
Pls advice...

Hey Dwarf,
I have no idea. This may be a question to bring up to the dr.
If you aren't willing to stop then you may not want to ask,Lol? Image
Vaseline works well for lubricant but as you know it won't help with the numbing.

Was thinking of using prep h as lubricant since it's suitable for pregnancy...

I don't think that lidocaine is any good ? There isn't enough anaesthetic in it for home use. In hospital they give u a much stronger dose and it numbs u sooo well! I would use Vaseline! Also, those tubes of lidocaine are so small, won't last a week! Be brave and change over! Just remember to keep those stools soft too!! Good Luck

I totally don't get people who are embarrassed to ask doctors questions... Believe me they see and hear it all. Pregnancy and butt problems aren't really that uncommon. Most GYN's can see your b-hole when they do an exam  I'm sure they notice when a hem is present and wouldn't find it too off the wall that a individual has a fissure. Image
You could use the Prep- H, but it says on the tube it's not to be used longer than two weeks. Hem ointments aren't good for fissures. They can thin the skin and actually ulcerate it....

I totally agree with Dawn. Hemmorhoids and anal fissures are very common in pregnant women. I would get over the embarrassment quick because you're going to be getting pretty up close and perconal with your OBGYN in the last few weeks of pregnancy. If you are that concerned, you could always call the Maternity ward of the hospital and ask over the phone. They have a 24/7 hotline for baby/mama questions :)

Hey guys! Thanks for your advice! I have finally gathered the courage to ask my gynae and he mentioned that I m ok to use aloe Vera or prep h as lubricant. Thank god!
He also mentioned I can continue to take my magnesium oxide 400mg n vit c with bioflavonoids!
Now my mind is finally at ease :)
