Movicol is much much better than lactulose! Just ask in the chemist for it. Boots will have it. Ask for lemon and lime flavout though - original is disgusting!! It's about Ј10 but you can get it on prescription.

They are individual sachets that you add to the correct amount of water.
They take a few days to work, and you can adjust the dose up or down as needed.
Remember to drink loads if you take softeners!

I started using movicol as I suffered with constipation and hence fissures etc... The movicol did just as Val said, took a couple of days to work at first. Now, I just use 1 satchet at night and have no problems in the morning! One tip though, I got complacent about it and stopped using it for a few days. Big mistake, I re tore. I get it on prescription and only get lemon & lime. God, it turns my stomach drinking it but will drink any flavour as long as it works!

They look like original flavour but can't be sure!
Could you get it in a chemist? they all sell it!

finally my movicol came in the post and i took my first sachet tonight. i didnt know what to expect but it was weird they are lemon and lime flavour but i could taste nothing and all i go was the smell of lemon and lime, its really weird when ur expecting a taste and there isnt one.
im really hoping this will be the end to my fissures. over the last few days my bms have become less painful and thats using lactulose so i guess there is hope if this stuff does a better job.
