Atlanta Area Surgery Cost...for those that wonder...

Postby TonyStone » 11 Oct 2011, 18:27

Today I recieved the first of my surgery bills, looks like total hospital charges are
$10724.00 (hospital, meds, anesthesia, recovery, ekg, etc)
$ 792.00 CRS (doctor charge for surgery , not bad for 15 mins work)
Of course this is WITHOUT health insurance, right now it looks like we will have to
pay around $850.00 out of pocket so far.
That balance may go up, but that is what I see on my insurance company website.
$1000 is a small price to pay to have my life back.

(blew my mind, I was thinking about $5000+1000 for doctor....

All I can say is, I'm glad we don't have to pay for healthcare here in the UK.... God bless the NHS!

I did schedule my surgery for 7 days after I decided to have it, so I am glad to pay if it means not waiting a year for surgery like some of the people on here have suffered.

Follow up, on the hospital portion of the bill my out of pocket expense was 457. We have not had a great year money wise here so I printed out the financial aid papers from the hospital and they have written off a huge portion and now we have to pay 22.00. With my out of pocket for the doc, I think we will be around $300 out of pocket.
