What's worse, fissurectomy or sphincterotomy?

It hurts more because they scrape or cut the scar tissue away and it creates a raw wound which they can either stitch or cauterize, mine was stitched

I had two fissurectomy at my LIS. I had the same experience as Steve - it hurt like hell. They are basically creating a new fresh fissure. So of course this area is going to get traumatized during a BM.
I do think a fissurectomy would be beneficial in some cases. In my case, I had a chronic fissure for 5 years and then developed another. I had a large amount of scar tissue around the first fissure. I always think about when I have had a cut in a awkward spot, finger for example, as it keeps breaking open it builds more and more scar tissue which makes it even more prone to breaking open. I think my case that it hopefully helped heal stronger after the initial suffering.
