A little blood and pain after 5 weeks post-op

Postby Away PITA! » 02 Dec 2011, 08:06

So I've been pain and blood free for about 3 weeks now. Until this morning. A little pain (but def my fissure location) and a little blood on TP and in the bowl. I know this isn't totally abnormal and that setbacks happen but it is aggravating Image
My diet has stayed pretty good and I'm still taking my colace (works for me). But maybe a bit too much turkey, ham, and pumpkin pie at thanksgiving has caught with me.
Just sharing to vent more than anything...so annoyed.

COnz,
Sorry to hear that! It really sucks!!! Have you had any fresh blood with bm, also?
My doctor said I should be healing faster than I am and at this point I shouldn't be having pain or blood. He put me on
Diltizem 2% Ointment last week. And on the advice of Dawn, I called and spoke to his med. asst. & she spoke to him & he prescribed Valium yesterday for me for the next two weeks. I have another follow up appt. with him on the 30th.
He is already talking another surgery in my future or sending me for a second opinion.
I was really hoping LIS & fissurectomy were the answer. After suffering more than a year with the anal fissure & treating it with Nitro-bid ointment & sitz baths. I finally opted for surgery.
I have been on colace, metamucil, benefiber, prune juice, etc. everything you can think of to keep my bm soft. Also sitz
baths after every bm or every 8 hrs. It's been crazy!
Take Care,
Snow

Thanks for that Snow!
I am in the same situation, have put creams back there for ages and was so sick of it finally got the surgery
I have an apptmnt with my surgeon next week and I am dreading he will want to preform surgery again, The surgery was not that bad but I just don't want to go through with it all again!
Likewise with daily creams up there, sick of that and sick of metamucil!
I have not had any fresh blood yet but defiantly that paper cut feeling came back
It would be so nice if all this would be over with already

Hi Snow. I hope you are feeling better. I'm doing very well. Just posted a 3 months update so you should see it at the top of the page. If you haven't tried Miralax do so immediately. It changed my life. I hope to ween over the next few months but it's helped a lot.

Thanks I will go buy some Miralax today. I've tried just about everything else! I've been reading all the posts I can, I really appreciate all the info.
I don't want surgery again. I really can't afford it. And I just can't take any more pain or emotional trauma, either!

Ok...I went & got the Miralax & took my first dose. I have a question...I was taking Metamucil & Colace...so do I cut out the Metamucil during the day and still take the Colace at bedtime?
