Going for surgery on Friday for chronic anal fissure

Postby Rich2871 » 16 Jan 2012, 20:22

I have had bleeding on my stool for many years. It would be heavy at times and had a clot come out once. Recently the issue has gotten worse, feeling like oozing down there. I was referred to a general surgeon and after trying nitro cream it did nothing. He then said surgery would be the best choice, so I decided to go thys route to finally get it fixed.

Hi Rich and welcome to the forum. Sorry for your suffering, but you will feel so much better after surgery!!! I had surgery last Monday a week ago today. I had been suffering for 3 years and finally had enough. I had LIS, surgery was a breeze. The first 3 days were uncomfortable but not like the pain I was suffering from before surgery. I actually, went out Saturday grocery shopping and today I have been gone most of the day. Went shopping to the mall!!! I wish you well on your surgery and if you want to see how my progress was, look in the considering surgery section, I posted my progress everyday. Soon this will all be behind you literally...

Yeah you will be out for a least a week. I did go grocery shopping on day 5 post op and yesterday spent at the mall shopping 1 wk post op. I am off til next Monday, 2 weeks but I really feel like I could have gone back after a week. Just take the time to heal and don't do anything ther first few days!!! You will have a speedy recovery and be done with this soon!!

Well, I just did the enema that the doc said to do and it's taken about 30 minutes do far, almost ready, but this seems too long for it to take effect. Anyone else have a long time for it to work?

Good luck today Rich!! Soon you will be done with all the pain. Let us know how you are doing when you are able. I didn't have to do any prep, so I don't know how long it should take.

Just got home. Surgery went well and no complications. Everyone there was super kind, woke up maybe 1.5 hours after going into the OR. Slight discomfort now but the hit water bath helps tremendously. I had some drainage after the bath the dabbing with toilet paper picked up, also sOme blood on the bandage( pad and hospital underwear)
So far so good though, not much pain. The gave me precisely for pain but I hope to be off it quick.
Now the next step is waiting for the first bowel movement
