You might want to check it out before surgery to make sure how much works for you. Some people get the runs from it.
Wouldn't want to be figuring out dosages after surgery!

I'd have to agree with Tanya. I was taking MiraLAX before my LIS, and have continued since. I don't know if I will take it forever, but I do plan on continuing its use for the forseeable future. That said, YMMV.

My CRS said miralax was safe to take long term. He sai if you have to be on a stool softener for months, this was the one.

The important thing is to get your stool so it's like the consistency of soft serve ice cream, and keep it there!

I just picked up some clearlax from the grocery store, its the generic version of Miralax. I'm worried about using this as i've not done it before, but i'm running out of Dulcolax and figure its time for me to change. Anyone else switch from docusate to miralax? any weird things i should look out for?

I took some clearlax today, got from amazon. Miralax is very good as a stool softener, but you need to get used to it, everyone is different with dosages... I experimented and found that, for me, 1/3 of a dose with lunch and 2/3 dose with dinner works best... along with chew, chew, chew, chew...etc...
Too much miralax and you get the runs, too little and... well, you know.
I love the stuff, btw. Picked it up here, and it has done more to help my AF than the four or five doctors i've seen, including the CRS, who said the stuff is great and you can keep taking it forever without harm.
take care and enjoy the miralax (or clearlax, which is the same thing)

A new fan of miralax here, I had tried to find it in Canada with no success at our local drug store. I finally made the 120 mile round trip to Walmart and found it there under the name Restroralax. Wonderful stuff, it doesn't give me the cramps like magnesium did.

Haven't switched, but I've been using the generic version of MiraLAX ever since I discovered it. I've had no problems so far, either pre or post LIS.

I also LOVE Miralax.
Does anyone here supplement Miralax with fiber supplements?
I'm still on the search for the "perfect" stool. My CRS says it should be soft yet firm and well-formed (like toothpaste), while most of the veterans on here say it should be more like soft serve ice cream.
Any thoughts?
