Hi,
If it is still acute (not had it months and months), it should heal fine on it's own without needing to rest all the time.
I really doubt you need to worry about LIS. IMO.
You want to make sure your BMs are soft like toothpaste so you don't have to strain or even push, at all. You can do this with increased fiber, fiber supplements like metamucil, or benefiber. Increase your water intake. Constipation often has more to do with not drinking enough water than not enough fiber.
A lot of people will take a stool softener while they are healing. Most people here like miralax here, but be cautious the first time taking it (if you decide to try that) as it causes the runs for some.
Did your doc give you anything for the fissure, ex. nitro or nifedipine?
This was your GP?
You don't need to take baths unless you find they help you feel better. It is important to be very gentle wiping and cleaning up after a BM. Some use baby wipes etc.
If you have one, an electric heating pad will be your best friend til the inflammation goes down.
It's also important to not go back to bad habits after you heal. The skin there will be forever weakened. After a year or so, it will get back to 80% of it's strength, but probably never 100% again.
ANyways, Hope you heal quickly, but it may take another month or two. But it may not. Patience.
If you feel you aren't healing well, try to see a specialist like a CRS (colorectal surgeon).
