Dilemma

Postby mountainman » 23 Apr 2012, 09:10

So I went to the specialist and had an endoscopy and the good news was that the fissure had totally healed!(at that time) - he made me laugh as he said it was the best bum he had seen in ages lol.
I told him when I use the Nifedipine there are no issues but when I stop it comes back. He said that I might have to use Nifedipine for life, or I could try botox, but he said I would have to let the fissure come back for him to do that.
So not sure what I should do? Any experience or advice out there?

Just be glad you have healed! If you have had an AF then I suppose there is always the chance that given the same set of circumstances leading up to the first one that you will get another. I had Botox 7 years ago and managed with an occasional use of Rectogesic ( similar to Nifedipine) to keep any serious AF away. You will always have to look after your bottom. I have used vasaline before and after BM ( I even carry a tiny tin of it in my handbag) and I try really hard not to get constipated, by eating well as I dont want to use laxatives if I can avoid it. Xmas is always a challenge with all the extra eating of rich foods, especially pastries and the alcohol.
I have finally got my AF back beacuse I got constipated and made the mistake of using a cream for Haemorroids (thought I had one) from the Pharamacy which had a steroid in and this reopened the AF. Will never use this again. Annoyingly it seemed to help at first so thought it was okay. I am delighted you have healed and why not just enjoy life and be kind to your bottom!
