Does it have to be extra virgin olive oil?

Postby owmybum » 23 Jan 2013, 11:54

I have started adding a spoonful of olive oil to my dinner everyday. I am not all that keen on the taste of extra virgin olive oil.... Would any other type do?

Health wise I'd probably choose sunflower and safflower oils. Coconut oil is nice for cooking because it won't burn as fast as other oils. I love Olive Oil, but was raised on it so that's probably the reason. Never had it by the tablespoon full, but I put in on almost everything.

I use organic olive oil on my food every day. Find that's the best. Not sure if it helps, but definitely can't hurt.

Thanks all... I too am not sure if it helps... But like you say it can't hurt. When I run out I may try the grape seed oil.

Flax oil is wonderfully healing and has anti-inflammatory properties. It's kind of nutty tasting, good for salads like you would use olive oil, not for cooking. Coconut oil is awesome for cooking and also has healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
