looks like im on my own :(

Postby delasama » 30 Jan 2013, 16:48

i finally got referal to gi specialist, but they cant see me until july 31st!!
i told them i will be dead by then lol
now i dont know what to do!
i started miralax this morning.i already eat soft foods, so hopefully it wont mess me up.
i dont know what else to do.
i have been eating lentil veggie soup for a main corse for last three days. been having two bm's everyday in mornings, but today i had three (ouch!) . they are pretty soft though most times.
metamucil was great for a week and gave me awesome farting power, but then got bulky stool after a week even with lots of water.
im hopeing that the miralax will keep it soft and maybe more will come out in morning instead of going twice every morning before 10 am.
if i could get it where i only went once a day and it were soft then i might have a chance.
im reall scared now. my only hope was seeing the gi doc and now my appointment isnt until end of july.
the weird thing is that i have had the most pain this week and yet no more blood even on toilet paper. what does that mean??? i would think there would be blood since im haveing the most pain now.

Have you tried nitroglycerin ointment yet? Sometimes you need to take it for up to 8 weeks...

i will ask my regular doctor about cream tomoro, but he will probably want me to get looked at by gi doc first. since doc couldnt actual see if it was a fissure without gi doc doing a colonoscopy he said. he just assumed its a fissure because it started after a huge hard bm a few months ago. also he didnt feel any internal hemroids when his finger was up there

Yes, you can look it up by Googling rectiv -- but that's an expensive RX, so if you have insurance, you'll need to print out a coupon from the rectiv Web site to buy it for $40. If you don't have insurance, maybe he could write a script for a compounding pharmacy to make the ointment. This is all if you're American, if you're British, you should be all set getting rectogesic on the NHS...

Ok, but you will wind up paying $400 for rectiv -- you can either apply for the rectiv drug assistance program (on web site) or you can ask your doctor to make sure he gives you something you can get at a compounding pharmacy (where they mix up the ointment for you...rectiv is just the same stuff made by a greedy pharmaceutical company). Could you find a GP willing to do an anoscopy to determine if you have an anal fissure or something else? Again, I'm not a doctor, but just some ideas...

general physician, a primary care doctor
anoscopy is basically the doc sticks a small metal tube up the anal canal to have a look at the bottom part...kind of like a mini-mini-mini colonoscopy, but can generally be done without any special conditions. again, ask the doc Image
