Does anyone have a stubborn rash associated with Fissures?

Postby Vin » 05 Mar 2013, 12:28

Hello folks
I have been suffering with chronic fissures for 8 months now. I thought it was just hemmeroid for a while but pain just accelerated. The doctor first gave me prescription supposotories which were no help. I was then diagnosed with fissures and told plenty of water and improve diet which did not work. I was finally put on a 0.2 nitro cream. This has healed the external fissures in about 2 weeks time. However I still have pain internally during a bm and burning after. I have had a rash associated with this condition which has been stubborn and persistent it is worse on one side of my bum than the other. I have been using an otc fungal cream clortimazole but it doesn't help. The itch associated with this rash is awful especially at night. Some days it seems it is healing only to flare up and be an issue again. The only thing that seems to tame this rash for a bit is a 40% zinc oxide cream but only temporarily. Any advice you have would be so helpful!!!!
Thank you
Vin

Vin are you still using the nitro cream for the fissure?
Because the reason I had to stop the nitro even when it was working for me was due to intense itching and eventually rash that also got worst at night, because I didn't wanted to stop I got as bad as getting blisters in the area.
I also used a fungal cream that worked just a littler, but it wasn't until I stop the nitro that the itching and rash went away.
I hope this help.

I can also attest to the intense itching.....although I'm willing to endure it to get this thing to heal. One thing I've done to alleviate a lot of the itching is to do heated sponge baths over the toilet with a clean rag and steaming warm water for about 15 minutes, it seems to help....as for the rash, try baby ointment on it...that thick gooey stuff. I haven't tried it, but I've used enough in my lifetime on my kids and its seem to do the trick for them

Thanks, Coco, I was going to try Desitine Baby ointment, but I'll try the Balmex instead....I knew that stuff would work, because it worked so well on my kids. Image

Yes I also used the Desitine and it worked for me to keep the area protected after the rash.

The diaper creams work somewhat but ultimately the rashflares back up for me. I notice it can be worse if I don't get a shower in the am by midday it seems to begin flaring up. Wondering if anyone has tried tea tree oil or been prescribed prescription anti fungals? My doctor said the rash was not fungal and associated with the fissures. I fear that I have been using to many creams as I am desperate to get this entire situation under control and they or my combos could br causing further rash.

Vin my doctor prescribed me with a cortisone cream for that, but because cortisone can thin the tissue and make the fissure worst I can not use it all the time but just enough to get some relief.
You can ask your doctor for some.
Still sometimes too much creams, stiz bath and everything we do to keep the area comfortable can cause some itching, sometimes because the skin gets too dry or sometimes because is too humidity in it.

I wouldn't use tea tree oil on most butt rashes. Its way too strong. How about plantain oil or calendula oil? Both of these have soothing and mild anti-biotic/fungal properties, and they are good on wounds. You want soothing and gentle on that skin. If you really want to go herbal, talk to someone who has studied herbs. Sales people, although usually well meaning, know more about what is popular right now than what has worked safely for years.

Coco your so right, I've put enough stuff on my as these last two months to open my own pharmacy down there Image Its amazing these products meant for other uses, I've used....but trial and error is the name of the game for this disease.
