Switch doctors?

Postby guiness » 18 Apr 2013, 07:37

So its been a month now since the intense pain started and im back at work for three weeks now and just dealing with this. This week i had some bad headaches so i called the doc to see what i should do and basically told me if im not better in a week i need the surgery. Im like what? Becuz at this point yes im still having pain, however the headaches from rectiv are bothering me worse. So i just wanted the doc to prescribe me something different to try or to give me some valium because what im getting is probably tension headaches from all the stress im under. Im also getting married in four months. So i also wanted the doctor to sign medical leave form so i can have another week off work so i can take tbe rectiv and heal instead of trying to shove it up my ass at work. Like why does this darned doctor not care that im so stressed out at work its making things heal slow?

And secondly, this doctor couldnt even find my fissure the first time i was in her office. She told me she didnt know what was wrong, that i needed a colonoscopy... Needed to check for polyps. Ok so now you ripped my ass open during the colonoscopy.. And i was in worse pain after that then when i actually tore. Shes never touching me again so i might as well just get a new doctor.

Sorry for your trouble.
I had headackes from rectogesic too, but after 14 days they disappeard, so give it time!
If you still dont think nitro is right for you, get diltiazem instead. Dont say yes to surgery so soon, the ointments need weeks to work!
What is also important is to keep stools soft, and dont stress since that could tighten up your butt and prevent healing.
Good luck with your healing :)

Btw. There are bunch of good info in this forum, so just read and take the matter in your own hands while you find another doctor. And yes, if you dont trust and feel comfortable with your doc, you should switch!

Omg. Just got off the phone with my dr's nurse. Now i know they are just an assembly line for colonoscopies and have no freakin idea how to treat this condition.

You poor thing! Hope you get better for your wedding! I had headaches on gtn too and didn't solve the problem, as advised by jhh you can try the other cream, had that too and didn't work, but I've heard if it being successful for others so defiantly worth a try. I can sympathise with how you feel with the doctors, just cam back from seeing mine and feeling rather despondent, don't know how your managing to work with it x

Guiness,
Switch your GP now! and better still, if you haven't done so already, get referral to a CRS specialist. A standard GP generally doesn't have the expertise or understanding that a CRS does. If your fissure is internal, it probably can't be seen anyway and an internal will not help either. I have a great CRS. He refused to internally examine me because of the pain I was in and referred me straight for an Examination Under Anaesthetic. This is one of the kindest and most thorough methods for locating and assessing a fissure - kind to you because you are out cold and endure no pain at all!...I was also fortunate enough to find an extremely sympathetic and helpful GP, who really helped me through the stress that came with the issue. I was not only prescribed anti-depressants to get me through it all but counselling and a lot of reassurance that it is something you can get through. I spent many a time in her office in floods of tears!!! She also prescribed me sleeping tablets short term to help me sleep through it all, so there are some wonderful GPs out there. You just have to try them out!!!
Just to add, I was prescribed Diltiazem and used it for 7 weeks and for me it was my life saver! I had almost instant pain relief and it was really successful in helping my fissure heal. I thoroughly recommend you try it if the headaches don't ease up with the Nitro. I had NO problems using it at all. Don't give up - someone will be there somewhere to help you through this. All the best to you x

Guiness,
I'm pretty certain that others in the US have used this, so may be worth double-checking (also known as ANOHEAL) No idea about the British Virgin Islands!! - but could be worth finding out!! x

ETO.... Your gp and crs sound absolutely amazing.!! So glad you had all that help and support. The crs I saw privately said I would definatly need counselling after suffering for so long.
What a difference a good medical support network makes!!
