Surgery soon? Pre op

Postby stupidanalfissure » 29 Apr 2013, 13:03

I've had a few fissures in my time.. One when I was 17 another at 25 and now a more chronic one at 29. It has been with me since Dec and I'm going to my third CRS appointment on Fri.. Assuming he'll recommend surgery even though for the past few months i have felt ok even though the fissure is still present..
What do you have to do before surgery?
Colonoscopy? Blood work? Paperwork? I believe when I had knee surgery it was just paperwork..
Or is it take a laxative get cleared out and have the surgery?

Hi, it depends on the type of surgery they do. When I had LIS I didn't have to do a clean out, just no food or water after a certain time. I just had double flap surgery and I had to do clear liquids for 2 days and a clean out. The hardest part was drinking all the nasty stuff. Lubricate before you start going and it's not to bad. You we also have a preop exam. Hope everything goes well for you. All the best Suzy.
