I think you  are the best person to ask my question.   I am healing very slowly from a bad AF (going on 6 -7 months).  Even if I have two really good days in a row, I can still get spasms (aka butt cramps).  Did you experience this?  I do use the ointments (nifedipine, etc.).  Thanks for giving all of us encouraging news!

Hi Pain,
Yes absolutely! After I ceased using Diltiazem, although the pain levels dropped immensely and my days were much better, I continued to experience this pressure in my bottom, which was just really annoying! It was like I needed to go to the toilet or moreso, expel trapped gas, but there was nothing there to come out. It wasn't painful just irritating more than anything!! I'd notice it more in the evenings and it would last pretty much until I went to bed. I think I had this sensation for a good 2-3 monthsish. I wasn't sure what it was but deduced it was probably still spasms BUT the good news is, nothing got any worse and this sensation did finally disappear - I guess as the fissure healed more & more. Then I went through another stage of healing with some odd twinging, pricking, itching, which I'm guessing was the scar tissue really kicking in and stuff maybe calming down. It was all really weird but I guess you notice every stage of healing down in that very delicate area! This is when I started to use Coconut Oil, which I found really helpful.
Healing is very slow as you know and there's kind of different processes you go through as it happens but it sounds to me like your recovery stage is very similar in respect of timing and sensations to mine........
Fingers crossed big-time that this is now happening to you because if so, you will be getting better and better!! Just keep up all the great work in the meantime and stay positive and determined!!! You're doing really well :D

Ever the Optimist, I'm so happy you have healed naturally!! I wanted to ask you a few questions. I have been using Nitro and Manuka honey to heal my fissure, and for the past 2 weeks I have been seeing a lot of improvements. I've had the fissure for 3 months, and only recently started seeing any results.
For example, I was experiencing itchiness, the pain was decreasing tremendously, and I would even have pain free BMs and many pain free days. The thing is, I am still bleeding sometimes.. how long was it until your fissure stopped bleeding? I do not have any spasms, so I don't know what would be preventing it from healing and not bleeding anymore.

Hi Smiles,
Great to hear that Nitro & Manuka are helping you! You sound like you are doing really well. Unfortunately, I'm a really bad person to ask about bleeding because believe it or not, my fissure actually never ever bled! I had everything other than the bleeding. The main conclusion that most people come to however is that the bleeding is actually less important than the pain levels with a fissure. If the pain is reducing, the fissure is healing. It would be a really good question to go back and ask your CRS though. It could be one of the symptoms you are just more prone to than others as the stool passes over that fragile area. Do you have any issues with internal piles as these can also bleed??

Hey guys, i have been suffering for anal pain and burning for the past 4 years. I also have burning in the groing and penis. When i first got sick. I had alot of pain in thr anus and burning i couldnt pee from this sharp pain i got from thr anus to my penis. So after a month i was diagnosed with a chronic anal fissure. My specialist put me on nitro 0.2 oitment And after a while it got a bit better for like 4 months didnt have any pain but i did have some burning in the anus after a bm and after pering. So after those 4 months i got sick again with the same symptoms. My fissure is currenty active. My question is. Is the fissure causing my burning and pain to the growing and penis. Also some abdominal pain. It also seems when i dont have any pain in the anus or burning. Everything goes back to normal? Please help me. I am now suffering from anxiety and depression. Its been too long. I feel like i will never have a normal life again.

Hi Beni,
I would also post this on the more general area but would just check that you are seeing a CRS?? I know you said you are seeing a specialist but is it a Colon & Rectal Specialist?
I really couldn't comment on those genital area/ abdominal pains as all fissures can produce different symptoms and sensations in different individuals but it could be worth getting a second opinion there?? I know some people report problems when trying to pee because of the pressure and pain from the anus, but not too sure about all that abdominal stuff going on....I think personally I'd want to go back and get a second opinion there......I'd also do this as soon as you can, because this prolonged cycle is going to make you more and more depressed until you can get some answers and some control over it all, so that may also be well worth discussing with your GP as it makes everything a LOT more difficult to cope with. All the very best to you and hoping you are able to get some answers & resolutions to your issues very soon.....and NO, life won't always be like this!!! You do get back to normal again - it just takes time, patience & a lot of inner strength & positivity.

Hi EvertheOptimist, First of all thank you for sharing your story and giving others who bank on natural healing soooo much hope! I have been following your posts and feel my story is turning out to be very similar to your in terms of healing. I hate to declare to myself and others that I have healed, coz i've been very close to celebrating many times only to get a relapse few days later. I have been suffering from AF for about 1.5 yrs now. Haven't had any blood, major pain for the last month or so. The doc also confirmed that he couldnt see any fissure/pile. However i've been given an anesthetic cream to be applied before BM in case I feel discomfort or anticipate a hard one. I've been applying the cream with my finger. Due to the healed fissure I can put my finger in without pain, it is not tight in there. But about an inch or so inside I feel a small bump. It feels almost like what a mouth ulcer would feel like.. in the sense rest of the area is quite soft and moist and this lil bump stands out. I can feel it at the same place it used to hurt real bad. That is probably where I had the fissure.
You mentioned the scar tissue and internal pile. After reading that I'm wondering maybe what I'm describing is also a scar tissue? And maybe that is causing the discomfort I still hv. In your case, has it gotten any better since you healed? How do you deal with it?
