ETO will tell you the same. It is because of people like you that its hard for us to leave this forum for good. I keep saying I'll take a longer break this time. But then I'll see a post that breaks my heart and I feel obligated to give some help hope courage, whatever we can.

Hey Ever the Optimist:
Good to see your still going strong too. I know you must feel still a bit giddy from being AF free. Heck after 2+ years I still cant believe my horrendous struggles and pain are all behind me for now-(and hopefully forever).
I thought I'd give you a hand in here for a "minute", just couldn't sit idly by. Its hard to describe the way we feel huh ETO, but rest assured others will undoubtedly soon discover this for themselves.
Keep up those great inspiring post....

Thanks Buttastic, of course we all have other issues ..mm medically that has effected or altered our fissures. Some are more complex, so through trial and error. we find what works best for us, but each persons tips, trials and ideas and the like helps us all.
This is what I find through my Doctor and my trial and error works for me...Not necessarily increasing soluble over insoluble, but placement.
What I mean is eating the soluble food item first., example, a simple 5 minute plain oatmeal first then follow with a insoluble food, I usually take a little while to digest then follow with the rest of my meal.
Soluble fibre isn’t found in the foods we most readily think of as fibrous (such as raw greens or vegetables). Instead, it’s most predominant in starchy foods, including oats, barley, sweet potatoes, winter squashes, and white breads.(careful with the white breads)
Other sources are:
Rice
Pasta (white, not whole grain)
Soy
Quinoa
Corn meal
Carrots
Turnips
Rutabagas
Parsnips
Beets
Avocados
Bananas
(a) getting soluble fibre at each meal
(b) eating soluble fibre before insoluble fibre
(c) avoiding excess insoluble fibre
Believe me Splinterboy, avoiding surgery is definitely on my list too.
Good luck to all and happy mending..Image

Hay Buttastic luv your crazy name..so funny...we should all feel Buttastic.:D
Oh I forgot to add..I also mix, half and half white rice with brown rice, try if you can handle it, I also have diverticulitis, and this still works for me, makes my stool soft and doesn't give me problems.

Hay why doesn't any one go on the chat..it would be great , especially if some one is in terrible pain late at night and can't sleep and needs to chat to sooth the mind and spirit.
Keep up the good work..But, your inspirational to all of us, I feel it.

That's a fine comment coming from a person with an equally "catchy" name.
I like your "placement" ideal. That's what its all about. Where to put insoluble vs where to put soluble in our diet. You know it blew me away when I just recently seen that many foods are considered to have both soluble and insoluble properties, leaning one way or the other.
Just gives those darn fissure something else to laugh at...
update: chat   good ideal, did not know about it. thanks please go-away!
