What pain level will prevent you from sleeping?

Postby bgd » 26 Aug 2013, 14:52

A 2.5 and my night is ruined. I just can't fall asleep. I'm using this:

Am I normal? I'm pretty sure I slept with much bigger pain before I got the awareness of what AF is.

I normally sleep a LOT when I'm in pain. I don't know why, but I can just sleep more easily and I end up sleeping a lot more to get away from the pain. Sleep is great for healing, so the more I can get, the better. The only times I had issues sleeping was when I was in severe pain (8 or 9) when my fissure first developed and was at its worst. I had to take Vicodin in order to sleep through the night. Everyone is different with their pain threshold, so I don't think you are abnormal.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.
