Raw bum

Postby Midwestgirl » 21 Apr 2014, 08:16

Hi Friends! Quick question for you, I am working to keep my stools soft with fiber, stool softeners, tons of water, etc and have found that the constant fluffy BMs are causing my bum to become raw and burn. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or idea on how to alleviate this issue? I want to keep the BMs as soft as they are now, but would like to know if there any ointments or creams anyone can recommend.

Thanks!

Best cream ever found was epicream skin barrier emulsion its for eczema but it actually promotes squamous cell regeneration!!! Also as a good barrier sudocreme works well and before ur bms blob of vaseline.. Also when u wash down there do so gently with water and a very mild cream based soap, this really helped me.

Hi Have Faith,

Do you need to have a prescription for that cream?

Thanks!

I have found sudocream to be very soothing when I feel sore. You only need a tiny smear of it though.

I'd also recommend 3M's Cavilion barrier cream.

another quick question...is it normal/usual to have bad burning when going to the bathroom? I wasnt getting the same intense burning sensation I have now, and I am wondering if its because I'm keeping my stools very soft?

There are two kinds. There was one that was mostly from pain along the fissure, but the likely one in your case (seeing you were asking about creams), I would say is the rash from contact.
